NAP ZONES... I personally don't this this is silly but....

You know, I'm sure if they really wanted to, they could find some space in one of the empty or underused Futureworld buildings to put in some nap pods like they have at airports. That'd even make them money.

Exactly. I agree. Certainly this is something they've considered and nixed or considered for a POSSIBLE future at the very least.

My DH is military. If he can stop, he can sleep, sitting, laying ...leaning... basically anything but standing with any level of noise, he can sleep. He puts his hat over his eyes and hey presto , it's nap time. I just wish I had this superpower.

However, on the quiet path from what was toontown round to space mountain, there's one bench that is often in shade late afternoon. He sits and sleeps, I lay down, use his lap for a pillow and doze. 30 mins later and we are ready to face the park once more.

Cool.

I'd love a nap spot too, lol. My girls found CoP a lot of fun last time (out of all these trips it was their first time in it). We'll probably do it again when we go back and I'll be napping through it this time.

Napping on the ferry is a good idea. I haven't been on that thing in 15 years probably.

So far it seems like Carousel of Progress is the number one napping destination.

We found the Universe of Energy works well also for this. Dark, mostly a reasonable volume (except for the dinosaur portion) and 40 blissful air-conditioned minutes long... Ahhhhh. Get a back row where no one wants to sit and you're set.

Favorite "nap ride"!!!!!

You can get on the monorail right outside the gate, an air conditioned ride which you can stay on as long as you want. If you are willing to go that far, all of the monorail resorts have comfy sitting areas where you can rest as well.

Yes, that was another thought of mine (keeping the kids quiet). I think there should be disclaimers that if your kid is awake - time to escort them out / or not bring them in if they are wide awake or not borderlining on falling asleep. Parents know their kids - they should know if their kids is going to hit chair and hit the zzzzz's. But if the kid wakes up.... that's your cue to pack up and leave. But don't know how realistic that is.

Thanks for the laugh.

Parents at Disney think THEIR children screaming at the top of their lungs in restaurants, running through a restaurant and even throwing food are "angels" So if their "angel" shows up in the nap zone and wakes up everyone else it will be "isn't she cute"

And I know that all DIS parents are perfect, but at least one of you lies... There's a poster on here who several years ago posted about how "perfect" her kids were and they could go to fancy sit down restaurants and never act up etc... and somehow I wound up on vacation with this woman. Every restaurant I went to there they were, with Green Mickey heads emblazoned with her DIS name on all their belongings. And those kids were HORRID! Literally running through a restaurant playing tag, screaming at people, hitting their parents when they didn't get what they wanted, etc.. So after seeming this act several times I came on here and did a search and laughed so hard I was crying! (NO! I will NOT tell you who this was don't bother to PM me to ask!)

They have nap pods in many countries over seas, usually Asian countries. They could put those in and make money. Although, I'm not sure that would work for kids, but maybe the makers also have some kind of kid version. Wouldn't surprise me.
And how quick would someone come onto these boards or lodge a complaint to Disney about Disney charging for a place to sleep? "I've already spent thousands of dollars for a room! If I want to sleep, I'll just go back there and sleep!"

Not saying a place to sleep in the parks is a bad idea but humans are silly creatures. We are so apt to say about any other creature in the Animal Kingdom taking a nap - "oh, look, he's so cute!". But if we saw a human taking a nap on a lawn, we'd say "lazy bum!"

I found sitting on the porch at Tom Sawyers island a great place to relax for a little bit. It's away from all the activity and relatively quiet.

On a similar note, I wish there was somewhere to sleep safely at airports, too, during layovers. I would gladly climb into a pod for $20 for 1-2 hours, where I could close the door and sleep safely. I don't really feel safe in public places (like airports) falling asleep.

lol. Oh my word!

I can't imagine that it is a need for WDW to supply a designated place for people to take naps while in the park.

They definitely need more cool, comfortable places to sit and rest (esp. your feet!) at the parks - recharge your batteries and then get back to spending money. Guests aren't spending money during the time it takes to get to your resort and back, and depending on where you are staying that could be a lot of time! Guests probably aren't spending a ton of money at their resort during the break time either. (And guests staying offsite are spending no Disney money during their break times.)

The parks are where people spend the most money. Finding ways to keep them in the parks for as long as possible would seem to be financially beneficial to Disney.
However, it kind of seems that's the opposite direction they are heading with removing park benches, limiting FastPasses, etc. It almost seems like they are encouraging people to spend more time at resorts and less time in the parks.

Haha, so true. Also human nature to complain I think. Of course, I never do....:rolleyes1

I am actually surprised more airports aren't putting something like this in, particularly international hubs. I feel like I have seen a few on tv, but they are most likely overseas.

... removing park benches...

I just saw someone comment about this elsewhere. Oh maybe I read it in that "no longer at Disney" thread. It is such a shame, and it seems quite odd. One would presume they have a reason, but I can't figure it out.

I know this thread is for fun, but it does have a legitimate point. If Disney truly wants us to spend money, then you would think they'd want to do everything possible to keep folks in the parks. I am not saying paid nap pods is the answer, but certainly having benches where people can rest their feet, relax, and then get back at it makes financial sense. Then again, maybe enough people just suck it up ("we paid for it!") and march on. Personally, in lieu of resting in the park, I'd rather lose travel time to the hotel than commando on...at least with kids. When they are miserable, everyone is miserable, including those around you. But, everyone travels differently!

One more reasonable theory I've seen mentioned is they don't want people/kids standing on the benches during parades/fireworks, falling off and getting hurt. It's still lame though!

Ah, yeah, had not thought of that! Not just getting hurt, but it is also inconsiderate...though Disney is likley more concerned with the injury lawsuit. Boo to stupid people spoiling it for the rest of us!
