My great-grandmother died when I was 15 months old. (After learning she had breast cancer just 6 months earlier) She was the matriarch of my family. I think all families have that one special person who everyone connects with everyone and for mine she was it. My Nanny, her only daughter, was devastated by the loss (naturally) and even 30 years later mourns for the entire fall and early winter as that was when her Mother was sick. I wanted to make Nanny a really special mother's day gift because she and I are very close, and have a very unique relationship. Unfortunately back in those days my family did not take a lot of photos, so I did not have enough photos for a whole scrapbook so I framed one page...and I am thrilled with it! It was one of those pages that I was putting off because I did not want to mess it up, but I prayed for God to guide my hands and my great Grandmother to rest on my shoulder. Here it is...
Here is a close up of some of the details...Can you believe this is Michael's $.59 paper?! I cut the butterflies free from the paper a bit to give them some dimension. The lock and key are the Grungeboard from Tuesday Morning (thank you for that tip!). The signature in the middle of the page is my great grandmother's. I scanned a card that my Nanny has. I cannot wait to see everyone's reaction on Sunday!
