I watched that interview last Friday night. I watch Nancy Grace most nights. I like her.

Nancy Grace was concerned for that child. The mother wouldn't say where she was during that time. Nancy wanted her to name places so the police could check surveillence tapes to see if someone was following her who may have wanted Trenton.

I believe the father said he hadn't seen Trenton since June. The mother claims there was a 10 in slit cut in the screen of Trenton's room. She thought maybe someone cut the 10 inch slit, opened the window the entire way, and pulled Trenton out. Other "experts" say the cut in the screen was too small.

Someone also showed an ad she placed in the newspaper to sell her son's carseat. The ad was placed before Trenton went missing, but that doesn't mean she didn't have another one or a new one. KWIM? The media was showing this carseat for sale ad, but not one reporter said anything about whether her car had another carseat or anything.

I don't know.

If my child were missing I wouldn't want to kill myself. What if the child were found? After the trauma of being kidnapped you find out your mother is no longer alive.

I just hope Trenton is okay, but it's not Nancy Grace's interview for a few minutes that caused this girl to kill herself.

Really, I find it interesting that she aired the show even after finding out that the mother had killed herself. I do not see how that show would help the child since nothing was disclosed, but I do see how it would help ratings.

AMazing. She's never lost a case and she's "hurt" our judicial system? They called her "Amazing Grace" because of her tough-as-nails prosecutorial style and sympathetic nature toward victims and families. I don't necessarily enjoy her interview style but to say the above is .

Don't educate yourself from Nancy's PR. Nancy is not well respected in the legal community. It's wonderful to be a victim's advocate, but you don't do victims ANY service by spreading lies and gossip about a case.

I saw bits and peices of this story. This mother shounds guilty and I think she killed herself because of the guilt, not because of Nancy Grace.

She was writing on her myspace back in May how she wished she didn't have a kid because it was so hard to find men because of him, or something like that.

It depends how you read them, but I still dont see how you reached that interpretation. This is the May posting.

I didn't read it, I just heard someone talking about it.

Plus it looks like her picture has changed. When I saw the myspace on the news, they had a picture of her and her son. Very odd.

I thought her family were the ones who said Nancy Grace pushed her over the edge.

I think the mother was involved, but I think Nancy Grace crossed the line as an interviewer. She's not a prosecuter anymore. I've never liked her anyway, she asks a question, ignores the answer and goes off on a tirade.

Yep, she has a one track mind and she just doesn't shut up when she's on a tangent. I don't remember her being that bad on Court TV, but now on CNN I can't tolerate listening to her. She gets downright rude and nasty sometimes.

I think I caught some of this interview... was this the one where she said she was out & about shopping and when Nancy Grace asked what stores she'd been to the lady couldn't/wouldn't answer?! I mean who can't even name one store that they walked into?! I just kept thinking she doesn't want to name a store because they'll pull the security tape & see that she wasn't there...

Yep, that's the one....the mother would not answer any of Nancy's questions as to where her and her son had been and Nancy was trying to help by trying to find places they had been for surveillance video, etc.
The mother "skirted" the entire question of whether she took a lie detector test...she rambled on (entirely without emotion) about following the FBI and not being qualified.
It was just sad, that adorable little boy, missing.

Nancy Grace has been known to give false pretences for interviews.

She once had Elizabeth Smart(held captive for over 4 years), while Elizabeth was trying to help push a bill through congress. Elizabeth made it clear b4 the interview that she did not want to discuss her own experiences and wanted the focus to be on the bill.

Elizabeth Smart was held captive 9 months, not 4 years. Just wanted to clarify.

BTW, When I saw that interview I thought Nancy was genuinely sorry when Elizabeth said she was offended by the question. JMO.

Regarless, even after Elizabeth explained that she wanted to talk about the bill, Nancy continued to focus on her kidnapping asking questions about a burqa. Just seemed liked exploitation to me. I found her reply a little snippy "I'm sorry dear I thought you would want to speak out to other victims but I completely understand..." If she came on the show to talk about a bill, she probably wanted to talk about the bill. It's like she always has to get the last word in.

There was a massive search today in the Ocala National Forest, but nothing showed up. I thought this part of the article was interesting:

Investigators said they plan today to search part of the Ocala National Forest for Trenton after getting a tip that the mother and son were "possibly" seen there the weekend of his reported abduction. Melinda also told her lawyer she headed to the forest with a shotgun the day he went missing.

At least 60 searchers are expected to comb through the brush and back sugar-sand roads near Farles Lake and Forest Road 595.

And also this from her mother, who came down from New York for the funeral:

Exhausted after driving from New York, Melinda's parents said late Thursday they can't accept the notion that their daughter took her life.

Mindy, as they called her, had conquered many troubles since leaving their upstate New York home on her 17th birthday to live with grandparents.

Late Thursday, they shuffled through a stack of pictures of Trenton and stopped at one of a defiant-looking 2-year-old staring at something off-camera and scowling.

"Trenton looked a lot like Mindy in that picture -- real stubborn, the hairline, that sweetheart chin," Beth Eubank said. They said they don't know why police turned their attention to their daughter in Trenton's disappearance, except for her demeanor.

"Mindy was a very unemotional woman. Very hard," said Beth Eubank, 46 (adoptive mother).

There was also a really strange report on TV that made me cringe - just hours after Melinda was found dead, her grandfather was on a ladder repairing holes in the house where the bullet had come through the house and the reporter said she was so sorry and that it must be a very hard time for them and he answered "Oh well, we're used to it." ?????

When watching the reports it almost seems like no one in the family is really too emotional about anything.... I have never seen Joshua (the father) shed a tear, nor Melinda in all her interviews. Not even crocodile tears like Susan Smith....

Oh, and it bothers me that she never did provide a timeline for her whereabouts with Trenton the day he went missing ????

I don't think Nancy Grace is to blame for this woman's suicide because I can't imagine that the police didn't ask (and would continue to ask) the same questions that Ms. Grace did.

It looks like she took her life because of the overwhelming guilt she felt over what happened to her child. Very tragic.

From the way the mother was acting from the get go, I had a nagging feeling she knew what happened to her son.

Local radio and tv stations at all hours had Amber Alerts going...I don't know, something just didn't seem "right" with her.

Earlier in the interview DH and I had thought Nancy was being hard on Trenton's dad and she was being "oh so kind" with Melinda but then Melinda avoided every question and that's when Nancy started getting a little upset saying "why won't you help us find your son".
I really don't think Nancy was to blame at all---kudos to her for asking the questions we all had in the back of our minds.
Actually I was extremely surprised by both parents with the very little emotin either showed----if it was my child, oh my gosh the tears would never stop........

I think that Nancy Grace was over the line. Obviously this young woman had issues. She appeared emotionally flat, which now seems to be a pattern in the family. Having a flat affect however does not make one a murderer. I have heard that she was told not to discuss the details of the case with law enforcement. The mother is compelled by law to answer questions truthfully to law enforcement, not to Nancy Grace. She is not judge, jury and the executioner. I have also heard that CNN aired the interview for the first time AFTER the young woman committed suicide. That was definately over the top, but then anything for 'news'. Nancy Grace's fiance was murdered 25 years ago so now it seems that she has assumed the moral authority to grill anyone who agrees to an interview. Ms. Duckett was wrong to grant an interview. Nancy Grace was wrong to be accusatory in her questioning while the case was under investigation.
