Names on Fish Extender

I am working on my first ever Fish Extender and I'm running into an issue with names. Looking at the pictures it seems as if everyone puts their last name up on top and then the first name on each pocket. Which I like, it's cute, but I'm pretty sure my husband would not like the girls names on there for security issues, especially with the last name on the top. What are some other ways to get around his worry? How will the other participants know which pocket is for which daughter? And same things with door magnets?

Are there others that have this same issue?? I'm trying to convince him that most felons probably wouldn't be on a Disney Cruise to begin with, but after having our credit cards compromised more than once, he's doesn't like to take chances.

Don't use the names if you or your husband feel it is an issue. You could use initials if your kids have different initials. Or assign a character or symbol for each.

We're just putting first names on ours. No need for last names, I wouldn't think.

So what did you put on the top? Did you quote something Disney? Right now I have a black piece of cardboard that's about three inches tall and eight inches wide. I have to have it otherwise the way I put the pouches together the top one will fold / bend.

I put iron on appliques on ours, Mickey and Minnie for hubby and me, Tinkerbell for our dd and Buzz Lightyear for our son

You can do it however you wanted. I didn't want to have our names visible on ours, so I just spelled them out with letter beads hanging on ribbon next to each pocket. And I used some of the embroidered scrapbook stickers that you can get at the hobby store for my topper.

A Disney quote is a cute idea. I saw a really neat FE on our cruise that said "Adventures away!" on the top and then I think maybe just initials on the pockets. Maybe who ever made it will see this topic and chime in. :)

I just put first names on the pockets for our FEs. On the top I put some sort of picture related to what that cruise is. For example on our Dec cruise the picture was a christmas sort of scene with Mickey head in it. On our Oct MR cruise, our DISmeet group had a logo that many used.

I've seen FEs with first names only, initials, and (although it makes it difficult to know which pocket to put things in) some with no special designations on the pockets. Some have last names on them, but many don't.

ummmmmmm what's a fish extender?? :confused3

I really need to know cuz I'm pretty sure I'm gonna wanna make one!!! :rotfl2:

We use last name on top, no names at all on the FE itself.

The pockets on ours are designated mickey/minnie for parents, mickey for oldest DS, minnie for DD, mickey again for youngest DS.

I didn't put any names on ours for security reasons. We didn't really differentiate the pockets for specific individuals, just brought everything in as family gifts and distributed however it seemed appropriate.

Our FE design is a front view of a DCL ship. We don't have any surname or quote or anything up top. I certainly understand others wanting them, but I don't think they're necessary by any stretch. I'd imagine there shouldn't be many rules (if any) when it comes to making these.... other than make sure they fit the space required. :)

Here's a couple of pictures showing what we had on our FEs

I put picture of the ship on the top and our DIS name, then just first names on the pockets. Might change this next time as I just have them printed on cards which slip into clear plastic covers on the pouches, so I can update easily!

I like that idea.

My whole FE cost $4. I found red and blue zipper pouches at the dollar store. Everything else I had here at home. The zipper pouches have a clear see through front. I decided to use a Mickey head with names. Husband is cool with that, just no last name.

My topper is drying as we speak, or type, so that I can put some scrapbook paper on it and modge podge it. I may search through some of the threads here to find a pic or a more "cruise" type theme.

We used 1st names only. I am not crafty enough to make multiple fish extenders but love the idea of different themes for different cruises

I have noticed from this and other threads, how many people are very jumpy about other people knowing their full names. What do they think will happen? Am I just being naive or is it because I am British and we maybe have different ideas about things? I just don't understand why people are reluctant for others to know their names

I think it may be not so much knowing the adults names but the kids. There was a talk at our kids school for parents about sex ed and they mentioned not to put kids full names on the outside of their backpacks because sometimes people will use that as a was to get young kids to feel comfortable. If they think you know their names then you must really be a friend of mommy or daddy or who you say you are. 99% chance nothing will ever happen but just being cautious.
