I used the name "Granddaddy" on my Band. When we checked in, they asked for my Band because the name didn't match any name on the resort reservation. They said they needed to re-set it and it took a while for them to scan and re-scan it several times.
But then it still never worked to open our room. (It worked for park entrance, FP+, and charging, however.)
Don't know if the failure of the name I assigned to the Band to match my name was the root of the problem or not, but the resort CM said it was.
