Name Problem.......

My DH and my DFIL have the exact same name. There is no II or JR. in my DH's name. They are exactly the same.

We want to do a family trip in a couple years where we are all in the same unit (hopefully a GV but it may be a 2 bedroom).

Will it mess of the system to have two names exactly the same on one reservation?

Has anyone had this situation before? Are we going to have problems?
Thanks,
DJ

I don't think so. My brother and father have the same (with different middle names, but we never even give the middle name) and we haven't had a problem. They ask the ages, so that might be how they differentiate.

My husband and son are both William. Husband goes by Bill and son by Will. So we give Bill and Will as the names. Would something like that work with your family?

I agree with Deb and Bill. In my wifes family there are a lot of Roberts with the same last name but different MI. They solve it with Bob / Rob / Robert / Bobby; even if this isn't what they normally use, your DH or DFIL might enjoy a Disney Nickname....

I'm going to have the same problem this August. DFIL, DH, and DN are all John and DBIL and another DN are Michael. I haven't given DVC the names for the rooms just yet - still trying to figure out the logistics of who's staying where and with whom (21 people, one GV and 2 2BRs and everyone wants the master bedrooms! ).

I go all the time with Phil & Phil. No problems at all since they were born many years apart.

I'm sure you know there's a lot more problems in life with people having the same name, esp if one doesn't have the best of credit. My dad and I had the same name with only a minor variation in the middle name. But there are advantages as well, esp in the DVC system. I'll say no more.

Dean:

I assume YOU don't actually utilize such advantages?

Nope, my dad's gone. And I had a lot more problems than I would benefits since he had terrible credit.

We had a recent trip where my FIL, DH, and my son all had the same name. no problems at all...just when we checked in at the airport they forgot to give us one of the "John's" boarding passes back and we didn't realize it til we got to the security check...DH had to run back & hope that they hadn't lost or destroyed it! But it was fine..

That is good to hear. We won't be traveling together, so we won't have to worry about that. Just staying in the same unit at WDW. Sounds like it is a common situation.
Thanks!
