Name one change you'd like to see DVC make in 2014

I'd like to see the kind of service and responsible cast members Disney USED to be known for. Very disappointed the last couple of trips in how that has fallen off. Walt must be spinning in his grave.

I agree! Service everywhere in WDW has went down. Back in the 80's cm's actually enforced rules, they would nicely (but firmly) tell guests that their kids could not stand on trash cans /railings, etc. to watch parades; they woud also tell guests that they are not allowed on the 'grass areas', and the cm's enforced smoking areas and watched for line cutting. Not sure what happened but they really don't enforce these 'rules' anymore.

1) A better discount for AP.
2) Allowance to purchase tickets for persons staying in your room or AP at a discount.
3) Better website that allows you to search all resorts for what you are looking for.

It doesn't prompt you and if you have points that can be banked for the reservation it doesn't prompt for that either.

Disney doesn't want to make it easy to switch, they want you to buy more points.

:earsboy: Bill

The last time I checked, the website told me that if I didn't have enough points to book a room, it would cancel my existing reservation to free up the points. Maybe it's because of how few points we have? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I'm not misremembering that. I guess I'll find out in about a month or so.

So you're saying that at seven months, if I go to book another room, and I don't have the points (because I already booked at my home resort), it won't prompt me to cancel my reservation that already exists and apply those points to the new reservation? Because that's exactly how it works, as far as I know. I'll let you know when I go to do that in February.

No it doesn't prompt you to cancel an existing reservation and you cannot cancel during the booking process you have to cancel before you start booking.

Agreed...but the crowds/amount of people now visiting WDW is insane. Back in the 80's it was almost a privelige to visit WDW as it was very expensive in those days. now the Poor cast members are met by lots of people who DEMAND that their vacation be very magical while they themselves are rude

More variety in the restaurant menus and better quality food

Yes!

Not just DVC but for Disney in general. When we first started going to Disney we looked forward to eating onsite and spent hours planning where to eat. Portions were large and tasty. No more. :( And I will probably get flamed for this one but I wish DisneyWorld would get rid of the free dining program. It has ruined our favorite travel time.

DVC specific, duvets in the closets for those of us who like the weight and warmth while we sleep.

Lastly, a bigger discount on the AP tickets, or just a nice discount on regular tickets.

I just thought of something else. Remember how, a few years ago, they had lounges for AP holders in a couple parks-you could sit and get a soft drink there? I'd love to see something like that for DVC members, even if it was just during the hottest months of the year.

I'm adding a new one, based on some of the recent conversation...

The ability to make changes to reservations online.
  • Highlight an existing reservation and indicate that you want to make a change.
  • Build a new travel plan that includes added/deleted nights, view changes, room size changes, resort changes, etc.
  • Select points to use for the changes, including points that will be freed up by any cancelled nights.
  • Commit the change and it cancels/re-books all at once, ensuring your old reservation isn't cancelled until the new plans are secured.
  • All pre-existing FP+ and ADR reservations that are linked to reservations that were cancelled/re-booked automatically transfer over to the new reservation.

Hey, it's a fantasy wish list, right? "If you reach for the stars, all you get are the stars. But we've found a whole new spin. If you reach for the heavens, you get the stars thrown in."

lol... I love it when quotes get combined. Never have heard "spinning in his grave"!!:rotfl:

You never heard of someone "turning over in the grave"? I just meant that Walt must be turning over so many times, he's spinning. Carry on.:wave2:

I'd like to see the member website fixed, by someone who really knows what they're doing with IT.

Make a search feature that allows you to search for, say, 1 bedrooms at all resorts in an area at once. Be able to do a "magic kingdom area" or an "All Orlando regional" area search.

Make a room switch feature that allows you to switch at seven months, automatically cancel your home resort when you're switching and apply the points to your new room. Taking away the risk of canceling, returning to book the resort you're wanting to switching to, and being out of luck with both this and the reservation you previously had.

Make the system remember my entire family's information so I don't have to re-key it for everyone on each leg of a split stay.

Making a wait list that actually works in real time and thus eliminates the need to check online often for folks waiting on a coveted room that they don't have secured.

All of the above could be done in less than a month by a competent programming team- perhaps less than a week. Heck, one of our fellow disboards members did a good chunk of this already, I think by himself, on a third party site. And yet the largest entertainment company in the world can't seem to find a way to do any of this.

Again, this list is spot on. I'm an IT Business Analyst, and the site drives me crazy. Specifically the search suggestion I made myself in online feedback right after the online booking became available. It's just a no-brainer.

I didn't read the whole thread yet but I have three wishes from DVC:
Keurig (or similar type) coffee pots in rooms
More/better ticket discounts
When searching for a room on the website, if what I requested is not available, show me what IS available. Don't show me what's nearby and also not available. We're DVC members for gosh sake, we know what's nearby, that doesn't help. If I ask for a 1 br, but only studios are available, show me, I'm a big girl I can decide to go that way or not to....if BLT is not available, but AKV is, show me, chances are I would go back and search for it anyway!

I would like to see an end to walking.

Bobbi:goodvibes

for a moment i couldn't imagine why you would want to deny so many the pleasure of walking (probably my favorite thing to do in WDW:cloud9:)....

guess i don't "walk" very many reservations ;)

my wish list:
most importantly, discounts on hopper passes, & a PAP/AP discount like last year

I've already posted, but maybe I need to keep it more simple:

A fully functioning and complete reservation website/system. I would really like to be able to modify/adjust reservations without having to call MS. Some of our trips are more than 7 nights - I'd like to be able to add the extra nights to the existing reservation. Sometimes we decide to change resorts - would love to be able to do that without having to fully cancel and start over.

Modify an existing reservation...

What can I say, I'm 67!:)

However, yes, it's walking a reservation that really gets to me. For the other, well, I get a scooter when needed!

Bobbi:lmao:

I agree with room request based on booking date. At AKV, those who book savannah at 11 months should get the rooms closest to the lobby!

We have two UY's and I always transfer the small Aug UY into our Dec UY. They are all points at AKV. Do transferred points with a different UY show up?

Yes, due to the points I transferred in were a diff UY.. this is new
