We've been to Freeport before. One time, we were at a very nice beach, but it was through an excursion.

We're going to spend some time just hanging out at the beach. But was wondering if anyone knew of a specific beach that I could tell the cabbie to take us to.

Didn't want to do the excursion one either..just too much money. I'd rather just hang at the beach.

We have teen's, so something they could enjoy.

Thanks!
Laura

I found this suggestion on a Bahama's message board for you. But from what I hear the cab fare can be expensive. I'm sure wherever you decide to go the kid's will have a great time.

From a Bahama's message board for Grand Bahama/Freeport:

"Most people would suggest spending time in Port Lucaya. There are many shops, restaurants, and other activities there around Count Basie square, which is in the middle of the marketplace. As far as beaches, all beaches are public. You can walk across the street from Port Lucaya to the beaches there. There is public access beside the police station. If you rent a car, probably the nicest beach on the island is at gold rock at the national park. There are also some day tours that go there that are nice. Regardless of where you are staying, they will be able to help you get whatever information you need."

I don't know if you can go to Our Lucaya without an excursion but that place was great, we loved the pool and beach area there. I know they did put a "bracelet" on us all for the excursion but I don't thihnk anyone really looked at it...
