No, once your account is active it's set in concrete.

HOWEVER, you can make a new account and stop posting on the old one. To do this you must go into your old account (this one you want to abandon) and change your email (can't have two accounts on one email address). A "junk" email works.

Then set up a new account using the username you want.

And never return to this account.
