Name Change

We are choosing between three 2016 trips, all involving Canada. 2 of our options are in May, which will be hopefully 1 1/2 months after finalizing adoption for our son. We are needing to book ASAP, since it's coming up! His name will legally change at adoption, and we *should* have time to get his new birth certificate by the cruise....... But what name should I put on the reservation now? His new name, and hope for the best? Or his current name, and change it when the name officially changes?

Anyone have experience with this?

I would put his current name and hope for the best and then call and have his name changed after the adoption is finalized. I'm just personally not one to want to jinx anything. I'm sure if you explain the situation they would not charge any fee that might be in place for a name change.

In the past, it was fairly easy to change. We were married on 9/8/01 and were scheduled for a cruise 9/12/01. When 9/11 happened, plans changed and we were moved to a 10/4 cruise. And by 10/4, I had already changed to my married name. Not wanting to fly or try to board a cruise ship with different names at a time when things were in such high alert, Disney was able to reissue everything very quickly (2 weeks I think) and waived the cost. I would assume things haven't changed much.

Thanks! That's what I'm thinking, I'll put his current name, and then call to change as soon as we have the birth certificate.

I was able to change / update my last name thru our travel agent after our PIF date without any issues.

When we had high hopes for a pregnancy we were told by dcl to put something like "to be determined" in place of a baby if booking far enough out. Then once baby showed up, just change the name.

I'd call dcl and see if that's still the case. Though since baby already has a name that might not make sense. But the new BC will show the name change, so I assume you won't be traveling with a child of that name at all...

Call dcl. They have procedures for things like this.
