Name Announcement

Hi all

I have been watching some USA wedings, and I have noticed that the celebrant announces the bride and groom as mr and mrs ---------

We are going to have a new family name after we return from USA (We decided to take our own rather than go for mine or DFs, but we can't put this into use until we get back from our trip to WDW, for which we will need our passports etc)

Can we request to introduced by the new name anyway?

Of course! If you're going to be known as "Mrs." you could be announced as "Mr. and Mrs. NewLastName." If not (I know I don't like being "Mrs.") you could do "HisName and YourName NewLastName."

I think it's great you're doing something different.

We defintely want both of our names annouced...

It will be Mr. and Mrs. Adam and Cari Fisher - we intend to have the theme from Star Wars playing )

You can tell the officiant to announce it however you want - he/she will probably ask you first!

We were announced by our original names because I didn't take DH's last name.

You can have who ever will be annoucing you say/do what you'd like. I was going to ask my brother to intoduce us until he made several jokes about saying "Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Disney Dork" While I find this funny. I might have had too kill him if he said this on the wedding day. Then we were going to have friend do it, but after 4 years of knowing my fiance he still can't pronouce his last name correctly (he says he's doing it correctly)

We have no idea at this point who we'll ask. DFi wants to make it a contest. Send us a video and the best video wins. (I am not a fan of this idea, my friends/family will make a total joke out of and do silly stuff like "Disney Dorks" and his family and friends won't do it all. execpt for the friend who thinks he can pronouce his name correctly.

Okay I've gone TMI here I'm sure. such a long somewhat unrealted answer to a simple question.

I always say, it's YOUR wedding and YOUR paying for it, they should do as you ask! I'm having a Civil Union and will be hyphening her last name to mine. So her's will stay and mine will change.

I am SO jealous! I did try to get my DF to change his name to either my name or something we both choose. He wouldn't go for it, and it almost turned into a big fight. I am going to change mine, but I'm having some trouble thinking about it. Still, I don't mind enough to make it a deal breaker, and I know that we are completely equal in our marriage, name change or not.

I just want to say that I admire and LOVE that you're both starting a new family name for yourselves!
