"Naked" X-Ray Scans At The Airport.. Your Thoughts?

You were the one that wanted to screen based on people with Arabic Muslim names and not "Joe Smith". To say the quotes below, and many more like them, aren't implying this would be disingenuous.

Exhibit A:

Screening based on name.

Exhibit B:

What "type" are you talking about? People with the names like:

Exhibit C:

Well, I am glad to see that you admit your mistake:)

I stated in those posts that ALL of the attacks on our airlines have been commited by people with muslim names.
I never said not to screen people named Joe Smith, you are mistaken again. Not to screen people with muslim names more carefully is frankly stupid, given the history of the attacks.

It's interesting that you keep stating this, even though it's been proven to be untrue.

Screening someone more closely because they have a muslim name makes no sense. It will only result in the bombers using more innouus sounding names, like Richard Reid, for instance.

My comment was in reply to gun laws affecting crime rates, not the number of murders. The argument is valid. Canada enacts stricter gun laws...the crime rate goes up. US buys/sells more guns ....crime rate goes down.
Those are facts.

Funny this article doesn't attribute the drop for the first 6 months (samer time frame as yours) to guns.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...der-rate-U-S-drops-lowest-levels-decades.html

Experts say much of the credit for the reduction goes to proactive law enforcement strategies, in which police using real-time analysis get more officers into selected urban areas to deter criminals.
Experts also suggest the recession itself could cut crime as rising unemployment keeps more people at home where they are more likely to avoid trouble.
Richard Rosenfeld, a criminology professor at the University of Missouri, St Louis, said: 'If they are at home, that means more eyes on the street, and more eyes on neighbours' property.
'What we're seeing now represents something of a break in pattern from the historical connection between crime increases and economic downturns.'

Richard Reid had a muslim name, it was Abdul Raheem

....and as has been pointed out to you on several occasions....his passport said Richard Reid not Abdul Raheem.

No, you have missed the point. To screen people with Muslim names more carefully would be profiling them based on race and religion alone. Profiling people regardless of their name who behave suspiciously is effective.

Correlation and causation are not the same, something that should also be kept in mind when arguing if gun laws are responsible for crime rates.

And all of the attacks that have happened on our airlines have not been by people with Muslim names, Samuel Joseph Byck attempted a hijacking in 1974 and killed 2 people plus himself.

The name on his passport; the name that he used at the airport; is Richard Reid.

He can call himself Mickey Mouse, for all that matters. Additional security checks on those individuals with muslim names would not have stopped that bomber.

It should also be noted that there are some who believe that subjecting muslims to additional security checks solely because thay are muslim will serve to radicalize more of them. I'm not thinking that this is the way that you really want to go.

Of course it did'nt attribute the drop to gun sales, it did not take it into account. It was not the premise of the article.
That article did not take firearm sales into account, mine did.
Still, you didn't prove causation.

In the '90s, tons of beanie babies were sold and crime fell. Did beanie babies cause crime to go down?

No where in your article is there a link between increasing gun sales and decreasing crime rates.

With the security measures put in place after 9/11 , yes, they certainly should have. ( this undie bomber not withstanding )

I wonder if Shrubber can tell me what two things the following names have in common:

James Cromitie
David Williams
Laguerre Payen
Eljvir Duka
Dritan Duka
Shain Duka
Russell Defreitas
Michael Reynolds
Kevin James
Levar Washington
Gregory Patterson
Randall Todd Royer
Donald Surratt

This post makes no sense in response to the post that you replied to. Did you reply to the wrong post?

No it is emperical evidence however, and very sound.
I agree. Beanie Babies reduce crime.

The dictionary definition of empirical evidence is evidence relating to or based on experience or observation. This type of evidence is necessary for a theory to be confirmed.

No where in your article has anything been observed or confirmed.

That none of them attacked american airliners? Am I right ?

My guess is they were the people responsible for making beanie babies and reducing crime.

Did I win?
