Happy mother's day everyone!

So I don't usually get mani-pedi's due to time issues and frankly I'd rather use the money somewhere else.

But last night I received a gift card for them!

So this begs the question LOL --

What are your fave polish colors this spring? I see all different colors on my friends from traditional reds and pinks and nudes, to blue, green to the black or dark cherry from the last few years, and of course my DDs do their own constantly with everything from the above to yellow etc (I don't want yellow, eww LOL).

Keep in mind, I'm 40ish with kids but still fairly trendy in the way I dress ect, so I'm open to ALL shades!

Thanks, all!

:goodvibes

:) I am also in my 40s. I wore a gray/charcoal color the other day on my fingernails. I am very fair so the color really stood out. At least two co-workers and two other ladies commented on how much they loved the color. My co-workers thought it would be great on their toenails and as a modern neutral color.

The color was--Meet Me at the Met by Finger Paints purchased at a local Sally's Beauty Store.

I also like Essie's Marshmellow color for a toned down French. It is not a bright white but a soft white. I purchased that at Walmart.

For my brighter white French I like Paper Mache by Finger Paints

Most recently I have used a shimmering gold for a neutral color on my toenails. It is an Orly Color (Sally's) called Luxe.

Another fav is Looking Glass by Spa Ritual. It is shimmery silver.

For some reason I have been more drwn to the metallics lately.

I had on a rich taupe the other day to try out the really neutral vibe that my older teenage neices like....DH who never notices (or I didn't think he did) asked me to remove it immediately...it creeped him out which I found hysterical...and appreciated his honesty. I removed it right away.

:) Oh, I purchased a matte polish the other day by accident. It was awful and gave me the willies. I think I wore it for about 15 minutes and had to do more with my age and not the actual color. I will not by a matte polish again.

Thanks for all the ideas in your PP! Sounds great!!

But please explain why you didn't like the matte polish? Now I'm wondering what I've worn in the past? Hmm...:confused3

Matte is non-glossy polish. Google it for images. It's not attractive to me.

Right, well I knew what it was but just wondered why you didn't like it. I have used both kinds of polish but now that I think about it, I agree the glossy is better.

Anyone else care to share what you're wearing *this spring*? :)

I have a light, shimmery copper that is my everyday go to for my toes. I'm pretty pale so it adds some color without being too bold for everyday. I want to do a turquoise once I get a little color.

I'm currently wearing a matte blue on my toes. It's dark blue, not quite navy blue. I LOVE it. I don't do my fingernails-I'm an admin. assistant, so painted fingernails last about 5 minutes. I also have a shimmery, metallic green for football season; a coppery pink; a shimmery, sapphire blue; a shimmery hot pink; and a shimmery purple.

I'm going for my nails & pedi this coming week. I usually do black on the toes. But, I think I might go for a sand color this time. I always get a French on my nails, but again was thinking about more nude or sandy color. I dunno.

I have a ESSIE metallic silvery blue on right now that I love. You can see it here along with the rest of the collection..http://www.lacqueredlover.com/2012/07/essie-mirror-metallics-collection-for.html

Once it hits pedi season I love a bold red. I am running out of the now defunct OPI "Not Really a Waitress" and I will need to scour the internet for more as it's my favourite.
DD is 16 and she and her friends love colours that are really out there...neons, radioactive oranges, greens and yellows. Not my thing :rotfl:

You need to go with what looks good with your skin tone, not so much a popular color. I look best with orangey tones but a lot of people don't.

This silvery blue is really pretty!

OP, I have a periwinkle blue on my toes right now. It's an Essie color too. Different for me, but I love it! I bought it after seeing it in a magazine, so it must be "trendy"....I'm usually a bright cotton candy pink in the summers, and corals or shimmery pinks at this time of year.

I also don't like the matte polish look. I tried it and it just looked weird to me...

I like Spa Ritual Emerald City and OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. My nail tech lets me try shades on a nail to see which look best before I decide.

I use Zoya colors, my favorites right now are Blu and Aurora, Blu is a light blue, it's so pretty! And Aurora is a super sparkly purple, love them both.
Zoya is more $$$ but it lasts longer, with normal polish I have chips on my nails within a day (I am a CSR, I type literally all day long) with Zoya, no chips until a week or so in. lol

I'm usually fairly conservative polish wise, but I found a glitter that I'm in love with. It's red and gold so it really pops. Generally I dislike any glitter polishes, but this one actually has very fine glitter, so it's not bumpy, and it has opaque coverage. The color reminds me of a 70's speed boat lol.

My go to colors are typically burgundy, muted reds, and muted but darker pink shades. I'm just not into the blues, grays, and odd shades that I'm seeing more and more of.

I only wear it on my toes, as I can't stand to have my fingers painted because it drves me bonkers to see any chipping).

OP Here- and thank you for all the ideas! Now I'm really psyched to go ;) (my kids love when I say psyched, 80s rock :))

However, I keep my fingernails fairly short due to, well, life (kids, part time job, the house and so forth)

So will all these suggested polishes still look okay on short nails?
