NAACP and Vick

What is boils down to is, no one has NO regard for Human or Animal Life. Vick has been doing this for years, MOST of the Black NFL Players have been doing this for years too, this is why Vick is doing the plea deal so he doesn't Name names......As long as the AH never has a football in his hands again, making money with it, I will be thrilled...the NAACP needs to be there to stir up a riot, which will most likely happen.

Interestingly enough if Vick does get banned from Football it more than likely won't be because of his involement with the dog fighting and the killing of the dogs that weren't good fighters. It will be because he gambled on the fights. In professional sports as someone else pointed out you can be involved with the death of another human being and still be allowed back. You can get caught using steroids, illeagal drugs, beating people up, raping women etc., but don't ever let them catch you gambling, for pro sports thats the deal breaker.

And isn't that a crying shame! Just ask Pete Rose about gambling!

I agree with the monster comment. I am the owner of a rescued pit bull mix, so this whole circus involving Vick kind of hit close to home for me.

Our dog has the SWEETEST disposition, and though we're VERY careful with her when we're out (some people ARE afraid of her when they see her) I can't imagine her hurting anyone.

We have 4 dogs next door that she absolutely loves playing with. They take her treats and toys and jump on her and all when they're playing and she just stands there and looks at them..she never goes after them or anything. She was taken from a house where there was evidence of fighting and abuse when she was about 8 months old (at least that's what the rescue told me). She just turned 2 in July and had been in a "foster" home until we got her this past December.

I really hope that the court system uses this as an opportunity to teach the public that pit bulls and other dogs for that matter, are TRAINED to be mean and to attack. They should also make Michael Vick an example of what can happen to you when you do illegal and cruel things.

Not my quote you are referring to, but it has troubled me how some black NFL players have come to his defense, saying it is part of the culture. I am sorry I cannot provide sources, but the TV stays on NFL Network in our house, and I usually leave the room when they come on. I'll ask DH when he gets back from his trip on who has said this, as he was troubled about it too.

Just from my experience from Rescues, it seems dog fighting seems to be accepted in a lot of black communities. That being said, I think everyone is a product of their raising. If people are brought up to not protect and respect animals, they will in turn become adults who do not protect nor respect animals. Black, White, Purple, and PolkaDotted all alike.

Having said that, I hope that dog fighting is exposed all over this country as a result of what Michael Vick did. Perhaps it will either be driven further underground or it will be exposed. Either way, public outrage hopefully will continue until it is exposed and driven out. Barbaric.

No worries!!!! I would be happy as a clam to have the whole CB filled with Vick threads. The more people who are talking about it, and are outraged, the better. One day...sigh.... one day, maybe the precious babies will be safe from these monsters.

Vick's own agent hasn't even expressed support of Vick. and no one's claimed the 50+ dogs that are being held until Thursday. if no one claims them, they'll be destroyed

White is an idiot for saying what he said, and the NAACP is way off base with this one. Not everything that involves an African American deserves to have the race card played..... and this case surely doesn't.

-I don't know a single hunter who hunts using any of these methods: electrocution, drowning, beating to death
-When ANY organization (NAACP, LULAC, religious group, Frog Eaters United, whatever) refuses to acknowledge that one of their group may be wrong (when the rest of the thinking world clearly sees it) they lose all credibility with me
