Hi, everyone!

Our family (myself, DH, 5 year old daughter, & 3 year old son) will be at WDW from 5/22 through 5/28. (We're staying at a FW cabin.) We have 7 day MYW tickets w/ park hopper & dining plan options.

I'm trying desparately to stay within the parameters of the MYW w/ Dining Plan. However, the Epcot selections, as others have noted, are really limited.

I've got something pretty good meal-wise scheduled for each day of our visit except for our Epcot day.

I was going to schedule the Garden Grille Ice Cream Social, but I've been told by CM's when I call Disney Dining that the Garden Grille won't be open now until June 21st. So, that limits the Epcot selections even more. (And we were so excited about the ice cream social too . . .)

I've already got 6 table meals scheduled (not counting our Fantasmic Dinner Pckg). So, I need some help w/ some good counter meals in Epcot. (I need 2.)

The selections that are on the Dining Plan include the following:

Electric Umbrella
Fountain View
Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe
Liberty Inn
Sommerfest
Sunshine Season Food Fair
Yorkshire County Fish Shop

So, from the above list, suggestions? I'd really like to try something from the World Showcase . . . I'm rather disappointed in the selection, because I was hoping to try the Counter Service in Mexico. The Yorkshire County Fish Shop looks okay, but I'm not sure our kids will like it . . .

Next Question - -

According to the list I have, Beaches & Cream is a table meal. Has this changed? If it were a counter meal, that would make things much easier - We could walk to the Beach Club Resort (it is within walking distance from Epcot, isn't it?). I suppose we could go ahead & just pay for it out of pocket, if it is, indeed, a table meal, but I hate to waste 1 our counter meals when it's been paid for, you know?

The reviews for Beaches & Cream look really good, so I'd love to try it. (And, then, I'd only have to find 1 counter meal at Epcot.)

Thanks for the help!! All suggestions & advice are appreciated!!!

Slightly confused but I do know B&C is considered a sitdown meal and IMHO is not worth using a wish for. I would pay out-of-pocket or use up one of your counter service.

B&C does have a take out counter also but it is considered a sit-down restaurant.

As for the Epcot counters, we like Sommerfest but it's a limited menu, basically bratwurst and beer.

Liberty Inn is hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken strips....like most of the fast food places you can find in WDW. I think the Electric Umbrella is the same. They both have really good fixing bars though. :)

Fountain View is more of a dessert place, excellent desserts but only limited sandwiches I think.

I'm not familiar with the dining plan, but I agree with you. From what you posted they really don't give you many options for counter service. The Mexico counter is really good. Maybe they'll add it later?

Let me preface this by stating I don't know if it was an error on the cashier's part, but...

I was able to use a counter service at Mexico. We got a bottle of water, a churro and an order of nachos. It was billed out as a counter service meal. It even appears on my summary sheet for my dining plan from check-out. La Cantina 11.74

Again, not sure if it was a mistake or if they are indeed taking the dining plan now. :) This was on Friday March 4th.

Also, can I suggest using a counter service here for nachos to share, a counter service or 2 in Sommerfest again sharing and then 1 in England for fish & chips. Your family would get a nice rest spaced fairly well around the world.

That would be awesome if they're taking it now. Has anyone else been able to use the plan in Mexico?

Hmmmm.. this makes two DISers that have been able to use the meal plan at "non-participating" restaurants. Maybe a big change is in the works, and just hasn't been made official yet? :cool1:

The places that have been mentioned so far are Earl of Sandwich at DTD and now Cantina De San Angel at Epcot. And, there have been reports that people are being able to use the Dining plan at Fantasmic by adding a $10 surcharge.

Thanks for the replies!!

Just an update - -

I read about possible changes at CRT (Cinderella possibly being the only princess) so I made a PS for the PSB dinner on our Epcot Day - which added an extra table meal to our MYW dining plan (I already had 6) but took care of my need to have a good dining experience at Epcot. :goodvibes

And I called Disney Dining to see if the Mexican Counter Service had been added, and, according to the CM to which I spoke, she said it had.

So, now our Epcot Dining Schedule is as follows - -

Breakfast in our Cabin
Lunch at Mexico or United Kingdom counter
Dinner at Restaurant Askersus (sp?) in Norway for the PSB dinner

Oh, and a crepe from France! (I've been wanting something to eat from France since I was there way back in 1991! :rotfl: )

Let me just share this with you as it might change how you feel about the UK counter service option...

When we were there in Nov/Dec we had the Quick and Causual vouchers which entitled us to one entree, one non-alcholic beverage and one dessert. We wanted to get the max $$ we could out of it. At UK's counter service the only dessert option is a shortbread cookie. If we totaled up the individual items ($6 something for the fish and chips, $2 for a beverage, and the $1 cookie) we would have lost money by eating there as the voucher itself was around $11.00

I realize MYW is not the vouchers. But if you're wanting the most bang for your dining plan dollars then I would argue UK is not it on the counter service front, mostly because there is no real dessert option. It's the cookie or nothing. :confused3

Did I really confuse you or did it come out clear as mud? ;)
