Suppose you bought a regular MYW ticket at regular pricing. Later on, but before you actually used the ticket, you became a DVC member. Can you use your membership to upgrade the MYW ticket to an annual pass with the DVC discount on it?
Be sure to note your purchase price of the original MYW ticket. If there is a price increase from the time you bought it and when you do the upgrade be sure to use the ticket first. Then when you go to upgrade the ticket Disney will use the current price for the type of MYW ticket used as the "credit" towards the AP price.
Yes. You'll need to go to a Guest Relations booth on-site with a photo ID and your blue DVC membership card.
Check out the ticket thread (it's a Sticky Thread at the top of the forum) over on the Theme Parks Board for more detailed info on how to do the upgrade.
Now, here's a crazy question...
We have a few (very) old Park Hopper tickets that are out of park days, but they still have their extras (water parks & Pleasure Island ). Would those give us anything towards an annual pass?

No. Any upgrades must be done within 14 days of the first use of the ticket. Thje remaining value is worth more as admission to the "extras" anyway. Just hold on to them until you visit one f the "extras". The entitlements from those old tickets do not expire.

Yep. You can still think of it as a discount, you can buy a normal AP and still have the same fun as a much more expensive PAP while you use those remaining extra "fun visits" (I think that still includes 9 holes of golf at one course, if you are not into water parks or Disney Quest)

The last I heard, I can't use Disney Quest since it wasn't part of the original ticket. We had always used our Plus options for Pleasure island (Kungaloosh!), but even with that gone, Disney isn't adding DQ. Can anyone confirm or deny? I'm not a water park person, but my kids will probably be old enough in a few years.
When you buy your MYW tickets, be sure the cost of the ticket doesn't exceed the cost of the discounted AP. (This is possible if you add the no expiration option.) Disney doesn't refund the difference if the new ticket is less than the original.
