I haven't found any other posts with this specific question about the MYW tickets. On allearsnet.com I found information about exchangine old MYW tickets for "dollar credit." (This is the page with the information: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm) Apparently you can use tickets past the 14-day use window (as long as you have no expiration option) as payment towards new tickets (but I'm not sure how much cash value they place on the tickets).

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice about what to do with my MYW tickets from last summer (I'm planning another trip for this summer).

We have two 7-day tickets (with Hopper, Magic Plus, and No expiration options) with 2 park days and at least 2 magic plus visits left. I don't know whether we should use those tickets this summer AND buy new tickets OR to exchange for "dollar credit" to use towards new tickets.

If somebody could help me sort through this confusion, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

if you return those tickets now you will get what you paid for them, then have to use that money to purchase tickets at todays rate...your best and cheapest bet would be to use those days first then buy new tickets (its like returning an item you bought on sale, you get back what you paid not what its worth now)

Especially since ticket prices went up about $10 from last year!

MYW tickets are front loaded in value when determining the credit left on the ticket. This means that the first days you use on the ticket will consume more value than the days at the end of the ticket. This is because Disney charges you less and less for each additioanl day you buy. They aren't about to charge you $10 for an extra day and then turn around and give you a $63 credit for it later.

So the value of your ticket is really the 2005 price difference between a 5 day Premium and a 7 day Premium. If I remember correctly, it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 but don't quote me on that figure. ;) You will lose any unused plus options if you apply the dollar credit.

So your question is really "Should I use my ticket for about a $30 credit and lose the plus options or should I just use them up and buy a new MYW ticket". Can you replace two non-expiring park hopping theme park admissions and two plus visits for $30?

Nope.

How many more days do you need? Assuming they are MYW tickets and not the old style hoppers, since it was a 7 day non expiring ticket, I believe you can upgrade it to a 10 day ticket and get 3 additional days (the difference between the original 7 days and 10 days). If 3 additional days is enough, I would do that before cashing them in. Sinc eit's a non-expiring ticket, I don't think you are subject to the 14 day/before using the last day on the ticket rule for upgrading. Hopefullly, someone will correct me if I'm wrong as I have only upgraded my tickets during the original trip.
