MYW package with dining -- discounts?

I'm desperately trying to get up to speed on WDW trip planning, as I haven't been since 2002! Gasp -- we've been vacationing in other places!

But, I've read contradictory things. I just read someone got a discount on a Magic Your Way package WITH the dining option, but I read elsewhere on this site that if you want to add dining to your package, you have to pay rack rate for your room.

So, what gives? I'm considering a 5-night trip at the Poly in late September (or maybe the Grand Floridian given what I just read about Poly renovations), and would love to be able to get a discount if one is available but still add the dining option.

As far as I can tell..

1. You can not use an AP discount for room when booking the dining package.
2. You can book a room only, use the discount and add MYW park tickets...but no dining.
3. There has been report of using a postcard discount with the MYW park tickets and dining....as well as AAA with that package...I just called AAA and only got $150 savings on a $4000 package...so nowhere near the savings I need or want!

Tara, I did receive the discounted room rate on the package that included my room , tickets and meal plan. I originally had a postcard pin and called for the BWI. Then I called back and added the tickets and meal plan. Now at first the cm thought it couldn't be done but she put in a code and it went through. My understanding was you needed the postcard pin and then this code was just to make the room into a package. I did get the room for 214.plus tax {235. a night}. Then my sister-in-law heard about the good price and I had to call and book another room with the same package. Once again I was told didn't think it could be done.....after an hour and 10 minutes on the phone with a cm called Barielle , (a really lovely and persistant women ) she figured it out and got me the same deal on the next room. She did tell me the codes she used. I know she asked the fellow next to her for help and he gave her the code. I will post the codes if I am allowed maybe it will save someone some time. I also want to point out that the tickets and meal plan were NOT discounted only the room. Any way I was very excited. Looking forward to staying at BWI, it will be my first time in this resort. It depends on if there is a discount available! There have been few discounts since MYW debuted on January 2nd, so official info is really scarce.

If you book thru a AAA agency, you can get a AAA discounted package (room portion is discounted) and you can have the dining plan.

If you have a email pin code, reports say that you can get the package discounted with dining.

AP holders and Florida residents can purchase the Disney Dining Experience.
