This new thing has me so confused! :badpc:

Is there anything that would prevent meal sharing with this plan? I think I understand that everyone in the room must have the same plan but we will need two rooms anyway. So if one room got the option and the people in the other room did not, could you just share meals like people did with the vouchers? :earseek:

80 views and no one has even a hint of an answer? :earseek:

Come on ...help me figure this out! :grouphug:

I have no idea for certain -- but I am guessing they will give x# of vouchers at check-in to guests who bought this add-on dining plan with their package. What guests choose to do with those vouchers I doubt they care. I don't know that anyone will know for sure until we start reading where guests are using them.

They don't give you vouchers. It's encoded on your key to the world card. They swipe everyone's card when you use it. Is there a way to use it so you could share the mealplan? I don't know but I'm sure someone will figure it out.

I know that with the old meal vouchers, people could share meals, and servers were more than happy to accomodate. Now, the new meal plan just started less than a week ago, so probably no one has had a chance to try it out. Here is my guess though.....if you have a party of 6 and only order 4 appetizers, 4 dinners, and 4 desserts, is the server going to make you order two additional meals? I doubt it. I know I for one am VERY picky, so maybe I only want an appetizer for dinner becuase I don't like anything on the dinner menu. Make sense? After all, appetizers are usually to share anyway, and I know on desserts too, that my kids and I have shared a dessert because they are too big for one person, especially after a good sized meal. This is just my opinion of course, but I think you could make it work.

Maybe someone who is at Disney right now will post soon and let us know all the scoop on what is allowed and what is not. For now, all we can do is speculate.

My guess is that to do this you would need two reservations. One for each room. Even though it says everyone in the room must be on the plan, i bet it would apply to all on the reservation. Bet there will be some answers soon.

I have 2 young sons who don't eat much at a time. We'll all be on the dining plan but I don't know what would prevent us from using one credit for one counter lunch at 11am for them to share and the other's credit at 2 pm for another lunch for them to share.

Is that the way you mean? Or do you mean trying to split the cost of the plan with people who are not on the plan at all? That's a whole different issue.

Thank you for your responses, but let me try and clarify a bit. On our last trip to Disney, my DD and I shared meals using the vouchers, and spent a total of $120 for the week that we were there (we did bring some of our own breakfast foods). Now, with this new system, it would cost a total of $350 for us for the week (5 day week..$35 X5X2=$350).

For starters, that is way too many meals for us! I doubt we could ride anything after all of that! Also, that is not nearly as cost efficient as the vouchers. So what I am asking is if any of you know then if the meal plans (that come with the rooms now) could also be spilt. For the group we are thinking of taking, we will have about 8 people. I understand that we may have to spilt the reservation, making the ajoining rooms near impossible!

From what I understand, you receive a card with the meal plan on it. Each time that you use a meal, it is then deducted from your balance. So, if this is the case, what prevents one from sharing meals between two people? Thus, with a group of 8 people, wouldn't 4 meal plans be enough? This is how we used the vouchers, and it worked great!

So, as you guys return from your trips, PLEASE Up Date us on the plan and the best way to go about making the most of it. :jumping4:

Jordan's Mom is right. You would need to book your 2 rooms as two separate reservations. One room would have people on the dining plan, and the other room would not. As far as I know, there would be nothing to keep you from sharing meals once you ordered them.
