Okay, I'm trying to figure out the most cost effecient way to go and the same question keeps coming up.

I've printed out the list of participating places from the Disney website. What I'm confused about is the counter service meal. For example, it states one entree/combo meal. At the all-stars they have the different dinners at night. Such as turkey, with two vegtables, and bread. Is this considered an entree/combo meal. Or, at the spoodles window at the boardwalk, they don't have combo meals so do you only get one piece of pizza. Also, if they offer a burger combo and a double burger combo, can you get either, or are you stuck getting the cheaper of the two.

I hope someone follows what I'm trying to figure out.

My husband is a big eater and I want to make sure I won't be paying for a lot of extras.

Also, if you get ice cream for your dessert, can you go back and get it after you eat so it doesn't melt.

It seems like we would save with the sit down meals/character meals, but the counter service meals are driving me crazy.

The example you gave of the all-stars: yes, that would be an entree/combo meal, plus you could pick a dessert. Definitely picking something that costs at least $10 for the entree/combo meal, drink, dessert, and tax would be a very good use of the dining plan for counter-service restaurants.

If the choice is a slice of pizza, I would not waste a counter-service meal on it. I would pay separately for something under $5. Maybe the pizza window would let you pick a slice of pizza, order of breadsticks, drink and a dessert (if they have them), then that might be worth it.

I suggest you pick places where you get at least $10 worth of food, drink, dessert, and tax - if not more.

You should be able to get the double burger combo. And even add on bacon if you want.

You would probably have to choose one when you're in line paying for the rest of the food, unless you ask the CM - perhaps they would give you permission to come back through their line with a dessert after you eat the rest of the meal. It doesn't hurt asking!

Hope this helps! We're looking forward to using the plan ourselves.

We just came back from using Dining Plan. We always ordered the largest of the combos and never had a problem. Also got the largest drink available too. When we got Pizza we were able to get a side dish like breadsticks.
I think your husband will be fine, we were almost embarassed when we went through the line with how much food we had on there!!!
Oh, we did go back through the line with the dish of ice cream for my ds so it wouldn't melt, just let the CM know we would be coming back through.
You may want to think though about getting a different dessert since your snacks are ice cream. I always went for some kind of cake or pie.
Hope this helps.

The term counter service refers more to the restaurant than the food. You can get what you like at a counter service restaurant to use your counter service coupons. :) The workers will often give you tips on maximizing your value. For instance, we were told by the workers at Pop Century to make sure to get our dessert in a container in case we were too full to eat it then. I agree with Just Me, it's a little embarrassing how much food you get :teeth: and yes, now my pants are tight... :crowded:

I wrote a report on our experience with the MYW dining plan which you may find helpful.

When we ate at the All Star Movies, I asked about the "coming back for my desert once I finish my meal". They had me order the desert at the check out so it appeared on the receipt and they then stamped my receipt with how many deserts I would be coming back for (in this case smiley faces for each desert).

When we ate at the All Star Movie's food court, I had:

Chicken Quesadillas & Fries
A bottle of juice or milk (any size...large or small)
A Waffle Sundae.

Awesome deal!
