keep up with what meals you have used/have left?
Can they be shared - so if I don't want a meal can I give it to dh if he is still hungry (doubt it but just wondering) so he could eat lunch & 11 & then another lunch at 2....you know 2 counter services.....

You might want to post this on the Restaurants Board, too. They discuss the dining plan all the time on that board.

the meals are per room not per person
so he could eat two lunches

This is how they work. They are good for the length of your stay. So if you are staying 5 days and 5 nights...each person on the plan will get 1 table service, 1 counter service, and 1 snack...So in essence you will have 10 points. Now with the table meal you get an appatizer, meal, and dessert...from my understanding that is a lot of food. So 2 people could share and use 1 credit. When you get your receipt, it will tell you that you have so many points left.

It is counted per meal...not per person. When you get the check in a sit down or counter service, you sign off on the receipt which all goes on your main account. My advice...keep an eye on your meals and keep track yourself. We were with my DS who is 3. We had to buy him counter service meals, but he was able to eat without being charged a meal at buffets, but we were often charged anyway and had to make adjustments. It's just good to keep a running tab yourself.

You can also share your food. DH, and I always traded back and forth. We often plan our meals that way.

One day, DH, was extemely hungry, and ordered 2 complete lunches at Seasons. Other days, the 4 of us shared 2, or 3 counter meals, and ate more often.

The plan is quite flexible.

Here's a question . . . I just signed up for a MYW package which includes 5 Counter Service meals, 5 Table Service meals and 5 Snacks, so . . .

if I don't want to eat at a table service meal every day, can I use a "table service" meal for a "counter service" meal? :confused3

Believe it or not, you can't. We asked about this while we were there and it turns out, you have to use the plan "as is". However...you CAN have two sit down meals in a day and do two counter services on another day, they are flexible in that way.

We are currently at WDW using the dining plan. We started with 32 counter services, 32 sit down meals, and 32 snacks. It doesn't matter when or how you use them... or who uses them... or how you divide them... etc.... the first day we used 8 sitdowns because we had a character breakfast and nice dinner... then on our 5th day we didn't even use any sitdowns we did counter twice. Today is our last day and we have been getting lots of drinks and bottled waters to try and use up all our unused snacks. The dining plan is a HUGE amount of food and I don't recommend it unless you really like to eat a lot. The counter serices meals are a huge combo, with drink, and dessert... the sitdowns are appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We have all had stomach aches, indigestion, and actually dread eating because we feel like we have to eat since it's already paid for. Also I don't recommend buying refillable mugs when you do the dining plan because you won't even need them. We bought ours the first day and haven't even needed to refill.
