Hi: I have already booked a room with a discount and when I tried to add on the tickets and dining they said that I could only do the tickets? Is this true?
I think I read something about this before but please HELP! TIA~~~ :confused3

I think to add dining you would have to book a package. They should be able to cancel your room only reservation and recreate a package for you and add the dining plan. Maybe the person you talked to didn't realize that.

I'm sure they did realize, but from my impression they don't offer much extra advise to save you money. You gotta ask the right questions.

From what I have read here, you cannot have the discount on the room AND the package. Is that right?

Ask to cancel your current reservations and start over with the package. If for some reason they give you a problem doing that just cancel, call back, talk to some one else and book the package. I don't know what kind of discount you have, you may have to give up the discount for the package, but it may be worth it.

MYW Dining is a good deal BUT IT MAY NOT BE AS GOOD A DEAL if you're going to lose your resort discount. You can't add MYW Dining with some discounts like AP. Your AAA travel agency can add MYW Dining to a AAA room rate but CRO can't. I think MYW Dining can be added to a post card PIN discount but the CRO has to use some type of special code.

I went today to our local AAA office to do the dinnning plan, and as of now there is no availability at any of the moderates during our time frame of May 14-May 20th so I am just keeping my room only reservation and keeping a eye on what we eat!

Really? Usually if you search Disney's website that should be the same as what AAA will see.

We will be there the same time though at CBR :)

How do you get the AAA room discount with a Package?

I got a quote from AAA & it was the same price as WDW website. Do you book a package through AAA or do you do everything seperate??

Thanks!

I got a room & ticket package together. Only the room only portion is discounted though. The tickets are the same as the Disney Package price. You also get a AAA Diamond card which gives discounts at several DTD restaurants, certain tours, and some other places. You also get a preferred parking pass.

mommic32...

We were in Disney in March, and I, like you, had a really good discounted room which I had booked way back in November. When the tickets and MYW dining was introduced in 2005, I wasn't sure what to do. I crunched the numbers, and for us (family of 5 all considered adults) it wasn't worth losing the discounted room. We enjoyed 3 sitdown ps's, split a number of counter meals, did light breakfasts in the room, and still came in way under what the dining plan would have cost both with the discounted room and if we had paid rack rate! We are big eaters and I couldn't imagine eating all that food without wasting it and I can't see doing that...

You have to book the entire package through AAA, including room, dining, and park tickets.

The same thing happened to us when we initially tried to book our package through AAA--the price came back exactly the same as Disney had quoted us with no discount. We questioned the AAA agent, and she called us back the next day and apologized, and said they had made a mistake, and requoted the correct price. (She also said four other families had made the package reservations, and she was going call them back and give them the good news--we were glad we saved someone else a few bucks too!).

Most of these AAA agents do not know NEARLY as much about Disney as the folks on this board, and you shouldn't hesitate to grille them if something doesn't sound right! Once you manage to get it done though, I think the AAA package with dining is a good deal!

I will attest to that. We have 6-day tickets... I inquired if we could degrade to 5-day tickets since one day is depature day and we'd only have 2 hours anyhow at the park. She told me it would cost $50 per ticket EXTRA to decrease to 5-days. She was telling me that Disney could not recalculate it with the discount which I know has to be a lie. Plus decreasing days obviously does not increase the price by $50 . I bet she was probably asking about adding non-expire or hopping options or something. Anyhow I know the real price would only be a couple bucks cheaper so oh well no sense hassling with the agent if she doesn't understand. She kept also emailing me confirmations saying stuff like "Your hopper ticket with plus pack" when I did not get the hopper option but just called everything a "hopper ticket". I did compare versus disney site and my discount is right and comparible to the ticket options I got (pluses).

Thanks for that info. I'll call & mention that. Hope it works!!

It depends on the discount. I got an email code and just the other day discovered that it was possible to apply the email code to a package. Some one on this board said that there is a different 3 letter code the CM enters to make a room discount work for a package (I don't know what the code is). My travel agent rebooked our ressies and we were able to keep our room discount. Overall the email code and the MYW dining is going to save us about $1200! She had to cancel our old ressie and credit back the deposit to our credit card. We also had to pay the entire amount upfront because we are only 47 days from check-in (you have to pay the balance of a package 45 days before arrival).

Another good reason to use a travel agent. All I had to do is type an email-she did all the work, including getting us every PS we wanted, and a few we didn't know we wanted, but I am glad we have now.

I had called back and the second CM helped me out sooo much!
She knew exactly what I was talking about. So she canceled my room only and made a new package and we got to keep our room rate! Thanks for all the info!

I am glad it worked out for you. What type of room discount did you have that they let you add dining?
