MYW and Dining plan...non participating restaurants ?

I noticed that most of the restaurants not participating in the MYW dining plan are at DTD and Epcot. DTD restaurants I can understand- most are not owned by Disney, and they probably aren't obligated to join in.

Why do you suppose so many Epcot restaurants aren't participating? It can't be just because of pricing- most of the places are no more expensive than most other restaurants on property. Could it have something to do with the sponsor countries- they don't want to associate their places with discounts, or maybe Disney is not making it worth their while financially to participate?

My hope is that Disney can negotiate with the countries (or whoever) to make it possible for them to participate- or that the non-dining plan restaurants come to see that their business would suffer by not participating.

I agree that most of the DTD restaurants are privately owned and not Disney operated. For years the only country at Epcot that would not acceot DDE at full-service was Japan, which will not accept it at all.

When I made a PS on Friday for the Japanese place the CM told me that it was on the MYW dining plan. I don't know if the list is wrong or if they have recently changed it.

You're getting two different programs mixed up. Here's the list of participating restaurants for the Magic Your Way dining option: MYW Dining

The Disney Dining Experience is a whole other offer and has nothing to do with the Magic Your Way packages.

Here's what I heard. If it isn't right, could someone let me know? Per several sources, including my TA and a Disney Dining CM, as of 1/7 at 2pm, there have been several changes made to the MYW Dining plan.

1)Dessert is no longer included with the table-service meals. Included is appetizer, entree, non-alcoholic drink, tax, and tip.

2)Le Cellier and Hollywood Brown Derby have been shifted from the table service to Signature dining options (meaning they now count as two meals). The Ristorante Alfredo di Roma and French restaurant have been removed from "Signature status.

3)The only table service restaurants at Epcot participating in the MYW program are Garden Grill, Biergarten, Rose & Crown, and Akershus. Coral Reef and Le Cellier are signature restaurants, and count as two sit down meals.

4)The only counter service restaurants at Epcot participating are Electric Umbrella, Fountainview Espresso & Bakery, Sunshine Season Food Fair, Harry Ramden Fish & Chips, Sommerfest, Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe, and Liberty Inn.

5)Disney reserves the right to change the plan at any time with no notice.

If there is a mistake being made on my part, then I would love to get the official, correct word. But the sources I have heard this info from seem to be legit. It is pretty new though. I did read the DDE list, and it is very different from the MYW one.

NOW NO DESSERT?!?!?!? I'm getting really ticked off with the dining plan - the reason I changed my bdp room rate was for the dining plan and the plus of the dining plan was the three course meal. I'm tired of these changes AFTER The tix have already been bought!!!!!! I would have kept the bdp rate for the room and just got hte mwy tix if I had known all of these changes were going to be made. Are they trying to get Disney regulars upset and not want to come anymore?

That does suck! Hey, but you can get ice cream as a snack though, right?
Hey boucheresq, maybe you can give us dining reviews for the myw plan since you'll be going soon?
I'm going in two weeks..I don't want to change my plans again so I'm going ahead with this.

Where is everyone hearing that dessert is no longer included? I can't find anything that says that.

Does anyone know if dessert is included with the Premium Plan?

We are fans of the old Silver Plan and unfortunately if we want to get anything close to that we'll have to go with the Premium. I hope they decide what they are going to do and stick to it so I can figure out what we're going to do. As sad as it sounds our plan to go this year depend heavily on whether we like the package. And this whole thing with the tickets - 10 day, 7 day, no expiration, expiration, I can't keep it straight. And don't even get me started on that list of restaraunts. Hope they get things firmed up soon. Or will they drag their feet until May when the celebration is set to begin?

If you look at the disneyworld website, it says that dessert is included in the table service.

Here is a link that has the fax scanned on what the they received on Friday afternoon on what is included in the meal and what restarants are included on the dining plan. I hope it is a typo, but you would think a business like Disney would proof read something before they fax it to thousands of travel agents!

*I have removed the link since it is against the DIS posting guide lines *

It seems to me that the dining plan is mostly "buffet" style restaurants. This would make sense because Disney can keep costs in check & make sure we're not eating steak & lobster every night. :scratchin

I am a TA and just checked the Disney Travel Agent site, the official Disney site and checked with our Disney sales rep. The MYW plan does include appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage at sit-down restaurants.

Hope this helps!!!

Yay! Well, that is good to know... now if they could just get some more Epcot restaurants to participate, we'd have a lot of happy DISers!
