You can make them 30 days out but even 1-2 weeks is no problem. You can walk in though they might tell you to come back in a few hours (so reservations are nice to have). I really think that's what these boards are all about... saving time. I have reservations in the morning too.You don't need to- I just like to minimize our wait time!
And if you are staying at one of their deluxe hotels, many CityWalk restaurants offer preference if you show your room key- you get bumped up the wait list.Just as a quick note on this topic that, while planning for our upcoming trip, I have seen mentioned or asked about countless times...
Based on info I received here by reading, I decided, after much transition of thought process, to wait and book ressies for meals about a week out. While I was able to book most everything the way I had it planned out with no problems, there WERE a couple of concessions I had to make. For example: I wanted a Monday evening ressie for Cowfish but couldnt get anything later than 4:15PM. I ended up choosing lunch instead. After some perusal of the days surrounding next week I noticed a similar trend with many times being taken. So...
For all of those kind folks giving out suggestions, please bear in mind that there are exceptions to the relax mentality. True, it's not "Disney = 180 days out" but it may be a good idea to throw in a caveat about letting folks know that if they are over planners like me, then they can do so about 30 days out. (like I saw one poster here do).
I like many are new converts from Disney, as background, and we are looking forward to next week!! Thanks for all the great info I used in planning.
FWIW, Cowfish and many other of the City Walk restaurants offer priority seating to on-site resort guests. In addition, I believe I have heard they hold some availability back for walk-up guests. We never make reservations, never tried, and have never had a wait longer than 20 minutes at a City Walk restaurant. But like everything else, YMMV.
I'll also add that City Walk can get busy during peak times of year (just like everywhere) and also around park closing. However, the in-park table service restaurants are pretty consistently easy to get into aside from the highest peak times. Anyone can make a reservation if they are on a time crunch, but those without reservations aren't out of luck like they'd be at Disney World. They always take walk-ups, even if you have to wait.
