Mythos restaurant is it really that good?

Since Mythos was and still is my lunch stop of choice i have say something. Though i miss the desserts of the past, the risotto of the day should be your choice if nothing else strikes your fancy. After a hard morning of defending the galaxy from aliens on MIB, Mythos is the perfect choice to enjoy a great meal and relax in style. :smooth:

I have been to universal sooo many times and can you believe it...never eaten at mythos. I always thought it might be horribly expensive and never checked it out. I aint gonna miss it this year tho! :sunny:

WOW! MIB999999,
Haven't seen you on the boards for quite a while. Glad to see you're still out there.

Isn't Mythos a counter service restaurant? Or am I thinking about somewhere else in IOA?

No, Mythos is a sit-down. You're probably thinking of the Enchanted Oak, which is a counter service, also in the Lost Continent section of th park, and which also has excellent food.

Man, and you haven't LIVED until you dined there with THIS guy! He's like Norm at Cheers!

I missed you, too, guy! Hope to see you in Mythos when we come down in April!!

And btw, Mythos is worth the trip to USf by itself! My favorite restaurant in Florida, period!!

Robin,
I totally agree!!!!

Mythos is my favorite restaurants ANYWHERE. Excellent food and service, fantastic atmosphere, and no need to dress up. No more gooey chocolate banana cake??? Say it ain't so! Surely they are still serving the Cedar Planked Salmon.

I was shocked too when I read the post a few above saying the big deserts were no longer there. My gosh, WHY? I've even got a web site up talking about them. If that's not enough, then I don't know what is.

Oh well, at least I've got the "Taste of Chocolate" in pictures. Never thought to take a picture of the "Oooey Gooey Banana Cake." Was that the best or what?

People, take pictures, and keep them. You never know when the good times will end.

Maybe they'll re-consider and bring them back. I just don't get it. I think it's because people were ordering an entree each, and didn't have room for desert.

That's why I tell people to share an entree and save room for desert.

When I go In June/July will i need to make reservations, or what? what time is best to go. and what do you recommended?

We are taking our first Universal trip in June and I am very curious about this restaurant.

Is it kid friendly and how do I go about making arrangements to dine there, or is it walk in?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Jeanne,
We've always just walked in at lunchtime but we like to eat early (11:30) so there aren't any crowds yet. Lately, the staff at Mythos have taken to leaving a sign-in sheet out at the front desk about an hour before they open. You can just list your name and the time you'd like to eat. If there are specific times that are unavailable they list them.

We've always found Mythos to be kid-friendly. Both of my kids really enjoy eating there. Here are links to Mythos' menus:

Mythos' Menu
Mythos' Kids' Menu

The main menu is a bit older and still lists the original desserts but you can get a good idea of the type of choices offered.

BTW, my son loves the One Fish Two Fish Ravioli; they're fish-shaped! The kids' pizza is also excellent.

Yes, it's definitely kid friendly. And I am ashamed to say that I spend the first few years eating from the kid's menu... they LET me! The amount was more than enough for me and we always added a kid's shake and we were full! :Pinkbounc

We had a really nice lunch there... but my DD did not like those weird Jimmy Neutron chicken fingers.

I had the balsamic chicken and onion/smoked cheddar tart - awesome :)

A big HELLO to you :cheer2:

How has life been???

We have to get together some time and rehash the "good Ol' days".

I have not heard from Barry is a very long time but i was out of the loop for a long time myself.
We have to get Rangebob, Rocketman23, and the rest of the group from the MG meet together sometime to share the squid and the pork brains. :smooth:

Thank you Robin. Kerin and Joseph are no longer there, but Katy, Liann, Robert, Ellen, Vinny, Mark, Richard and sometimes Second Cook are still there. I really do miss Susan and her wonderful dessert creations. If you are coming down in April let me know the dates and i will be there. It always seems like when you show up a large contingent of the DisBoard makes an effort to be there. I look forward to re-establishing old friendships and making new ones. The more the merrier when it comes to a meet at Universal and MYTHOS is involved :smooth:

We had a lovely lunch there in 2003. The surroundings were pleasant and the food was yummy.
