We will be in IOA at the beginning of May. Do you think I need to make a reservation for Mythos if we want to eat there?

The thing about Mythos is they close early if the parks aren't open late and many times are not open for dinner. Stop in in the AM when you are in IOA and make a reservation . It never hurts to have one and you are then sure what time they close.
Lunch and dinner usually have the same menu.

We ate at Mythos twice during our trip this past week and I had reservations both times for 11:30 AM (this is when they first started seating, though they opened the doors a bit earlier - not sure exactly when). Both times I made the ressies in the morning, probably around 10 at the dining kiosk in the park...once at IOA and once at US. The first time (a Tuesday), when we got there around 11:25, there were already people there and about 10 parties already signed in. We were seated right away (first in the restaurant) and one guy actually came up to the podium and complained! The hostess explained we'd made a reservation. So yes, I would definitely advise doing this for whatever time you'd like to dine. When we left there were even more people waiting. Mythos is deservedly very popular!

Just ate at Mythos on Thursday and it was crowded. We made priority seating that morning in the park (at the dining rez booth). We got there at 2:00 and was told we had about a 20 minute wait. People that were walking in were being told it was an hour wait. Seems to be getting more crowded everytime we go - food was excellent as usual.

The Dining Reservation booth is inside IOA. Its after the entry shops at the point were you can go right for the seuss island or left for the superhero island

When we were there during President's Week (2/17 - 2/22), the reservation booth was right before you got to the bridge to go to Superhero Island, i.e., right near the Hulk. The guy manning it was actually wearing earplugs because of the coaster noise! It was definitely to the left of where you described it above. Maybe they moved it??

If you are planning on starting your day at US and then hopping to IOA for lunch at Mythos, you can also make a priority seating at the dining reservation booth at US. That one is located straight ahead as you come in the turnstiles, in front of the place where you pick up photos.
