I think it's one of those restaurants that sometimes you have a great meal, sometimes not a great meal. I like it, but only go once during my stay. I'd keep your ressie, and give it a try.
Just there 2 weeks ago and it was fine. Keep the reservation. It'll be a nice bit of downtime and the food will be better than a lot of other food choices around.
We've had excellent service and food there most times, but on occasion it could have been better and we missed it for a year or so. Any restaurant can be like that though.
Last year, it was good, not great.......but I wouldn't cancel on a few reviews. If you do have any issues, bring it to their attention there and then and I'm sure they would rectify it.
Reviews are funny sometimes, most of the time people don't complain at the time then head to review sites to moan.......
I'm sure you'll enjoy it......it's a gorgeous place and food can be gorgeous!
that's what we had the fist time we went.
risotto was undercooked, food was bland, and our server was beyond annoying.
She suggested the risotto, we followed her advice. Barely ate a quarter of the plate, and before we had time to tell her it was not properly cooked, she smiled and said "told you it would be good, now ready for dessert ?"
errr ... no m'am ... we need to go ...
I think it has suffered in recent years. The last two times I've been the service has been lacking. And the menu seems to get more mediocre each time I go. I love the atmosphere and architecture, but who goes to a restaurant just cause it's pretty?
The risotto of the day is usually a Chef's choice type of dish. Usually it's very good, but I've had a few that weren't. If you are a adventurous it's worth it (ask what it is for the day, though).
Yep........I never tried that pork dish.......wish I had as it seemed a lot of old loved it........the pizza is excellent and worth going for, as are a good few choices.
Never had a bad meal, just at times could have been better, but always edible.......they are excellent at rectifying faults we find....if you tell them of course. Think we only went once last year.......but will definitely go back this year again
Blueberry-Pistachio pork chop ...it was my favorite. I think the chef that made it left but they should still have the recipe...let's start a petition to bring it back
great thinking Tink1957 ! i can still remember how delicious it was..
it would be fabulous for them to bring back that dish. and a few more from years ago....
As I recall it was a blueberry, pistachio encrusted pork chop, served with macaroni & cheese and some greens/cherry tomatoes RIP yes, it was that good!
Still I work it in every trip. Always order the rissoto whiich is, thankfully, cooked traditionally - al dente. While the sauce is expected to be creamy, the rice should have some 'bite' to it.
