This proves to be no minor undertaking as I have heartd/read many different versions.;) I wish I had known this in the beginning. It would have been interesting to have written down everythiung I have been told or read. Somewhere lies the truth.:D
I've been on hold now almost 15 minutes on the Passholder Line. I'm trying to get to the bottom of the AP perks once and for all.
I never have rec'd anything from Disney showing what AP benefits there are.
I have heard and read various versions on the AP pin/lanyard--
From: yes you get them
to: No it was on last year in the Fall.
Someone just posted tjis reply to me on the CB:
"The Animal Kingdom lanyard with pin was for guests who renewed their APs during a certain time period in 2001. The 100 Years of Magic lanyard for APassholders was available during the preview week in September and then in October at MGM. Apparently, any extras were taken to the Island Mercantile in the AK and are now being used for APassholders who are FL residents. The AP lounge at AK was temporary and only open through September. "
Hey! I'm talking to Billy Bob now!

Well, 20 minutes later I have another L.D. phone number to call.:p
Billy Bob could only read me what discount benefits I should have received last month.

So Billy Bob has a time machine.....You could of figured Disney would be the first to have one of those.

Same thing happened to me. It doesn't make a lot of sense, that people who are new AP-holders get no complimentary pin or lanyard. Yeah, I happily actually went to AK's Island Mercantile and was told the same thing, that the pins/lanyards are only for renewals. Ack. I suppose I should have/could have bought the buyable-AP pins, but I was spending so much on pins/etc., that I didn't do it.

agnes!

Well you got more info than I did. I asked 2 - 3 times at Merc in AK. Each time I was directed to the AP Lounge that was never open.
I'm really miffed over this one. I wasn't expecting great discounts and gobs of freebies. But I can't even get a dang guide telling what my benefits are!
I am getting the very same run around here as I was at WDW. Only now there is long distance calls involved.:p
Billy Bob gave me a Ticket Service number to call.
And they returned my call right away today. But guess what? Chris at that number transferred right back to the Passholder (Ignore) Line (that is for vacation ressies).
I don't have the time at work to spend waiting on Ignore for twenty minutes just to find out nothing again!
It's very apparent no WDW CM knows anything about AP's other than what is in front of their nose on a sceen.
I was nice.
I was patient.
I was irritated.
Now I'm ticked.
I had even decided to start spending my vacation money elsewhere next year. Then in the mail came a LBE worth it's weight in gold. :D The two new PotC pins from DL.:bounce: :bounce:
Aaahhhhhhh......
Well maybe I just shift my vacation $ gears to DL/DCA next year. Their pins are better anyway most of the time, IMHO. (And cheaper for the time being.)
DH wants to run that dang WDW marathon in January '03. Maybe I'll just cut that trip time short.
Is there a DL/DCA race? Well, there is the L.A. marathon, isn't there? ;)

We would love to have you at the DLR for your vacation. I believe the LA marathon is in the beginning of March so your DH would be happy too. :)

Christine

I told DH I was not planning to buy AP's for WDW next year.
We went to DLR last May and we really enjoyed it. The only things I was disappointed about DLR was finding out that fireworks and all are not every night, like at WDW.
Plus the only LE's I could find to buy were boxed sets.
In only those two aspects did I feel spoiled by WDW.
But I LOVE the ease of going from park to park to DTD, and even a quick walk back to the hotel. And I like DL better than MK. And a Mint Julep at the Blue Bayou sure sounds nice! ;)
We are considering, depending how the budget holds out, going to DLR for a quick weekend Halloween week. :)
Once Disney opens a ToT I will be there for certain!!! Maliboomer, ToT, PotC and HM all in one day! What more can I ask for!? :bounce:
Boy, I DO miss DLR!!!:smooth:
