Has anyone stayed here? I was thinking of staying at one my last week in Sept, it would only cost 179 for the week (no timeshare, military) I can't pick what one is better... I think i'll go crazy if I stayed in asmu and eat disney food for 2 weeks. I think there both about 4 miles from wdw.

Mystic Dunes used to be called "The Palms - A Tempus Resort" so that's how some people will recognize it. It's west of WDW off 192. Star Island is east of of WDW off 192. See the links for more info about each.

The interiors seem a little nicer at MD, IMHO. SI probably has a little more to do at the resort than MD and SI is closer to Universal and Sea World than MD, if you plan to do more than just WDW. If you'll be in the area for 2 weeks, consider spending a week at each! HTH. :)

Mystic Dunes is very nice. $179 is a steal!

I read the TUG reviews for Star Island recently when I was looking for a Spring break week and wasn't real impressed with them.

Thank you. Hee I would love to try both but we are staying at asmu for one week, then to a condo to see outside "the world" I wish we could go for 3 weeks but my DH is having a cow over the 2 weeks. I say it's my money were going two weeks :cool1:

We own at Mystic Dunes, so I guess I am partial here, haha. I have never been to Star Island so I can't comment on that, but we have stayed at MD 3 times now, and I can assure you, you will not be disappointed! It is a beautiful resort with beautiful rooms and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of WDW property.

Thank you, I really wanted to stay at MD but we went with liki tiki village beacuse my little girl would love it. Were planing a trip next x-mas and were going to stay at MD that time with the whole family.

We stayed at the Star Island in a two bedroom deluxe( had a den with a pull out sofa that could be a third bedroom). It was great for us as we had three teenagers with us. The pool was nice although sometimes crowded. We would stay there again but the resort is booked for our dates 6/23-7/02. The decor was a little dated--mirrors and mauve, grey and purple but hey -- so is my house. It was clean. Management worked quickly as our next door neighbor locked herself out on the balconey. We called the front desk for her and they came right away. My two cents. Good luck:goodvibes

We are staying in a 2 BR at Star Island Resort 6/26 - 7/02. My MIL has a Fairfield timeshare and we are staying through that. I haven't been successful at finding out much about it, other than it's pretty close to the parks. If I remember LOL I'll post something about it when I get back.

PS: Sorry 3mickeymom :)

We stayed at Mystic Dunes on our last vacation and liked it. Since our room (more like an apartment) had a kitchen, we cooked dinner there seversal times. Our kids also liked the water slide at the pool.

We booked through our place on base. (military) Thats how we got it for 179.
