Mystery Novel Authors?

I do a lot of reading during the summer and am getting tired of the same old authors...any advice on good mystery thriller type authors?

Don't know who you consider same old?

But here's a few that I like:

Sue Grafton (the alphabet series)
Diane Mott Davidson (main character is a chef)
Jack Higgins (I get him confused, but I think he's the horse author, mostly jockeys set in England)
Dean Koontz (Can be gory and/or repetitive, but Watchers is one of my FAVORITES)
Stuart Woods (I like the Stone Barrington ones, they do have a fair bit of sex though)
Suzanne Brockman (Navy SEALs, LOTS of sex, very fast paced)
Elizabeth Lowell (particularly her gem series, all have some gemstone in the title)

I just read my first Elizabeth Lowell - "Always Time to Die." It was great!

I love James Patterson too. I picked up a Mary Jane Clark too. Stupid here thought it said Mary Higgins Clark. It was surprisingly good too.

I love a good mystery.

Tess Gerritsen

Michael Crichton- he wrote Jarassic Park, The Lost World (which are interesting to read and see how parts are completely differant from the movies and how some of the parts of the 3rd movie are in there as well) and a bunch of others that were made into movies. But he writes a lot of differant types of books, mystery, sci-fi.

Nora Robert writing under the name of J. D. Robb has a series about a Homicide Detective in the future.

Ooh yeah, those are very good! I actually picked up one of those for the first time at the book store next to Sci-Fi at MGM.

I was trying to read them in order, but our local library has the early ones and the later ones in the series and haven't had the middle of the series. I started to read one of the later ones and just couldn't do it, I felt lost. I will just have to keep checking back.
