Please advise. I joined Mypoints and I browsed over some of the sites. This is my question...If I click on the Best Buy offer thru Mypoints, it takes me directly to the Best Buy site for ordering. Do the two systems read each other (MyPoints and Best Buy) so I get my points, or how do I get my reward points when I go to one of their advertised sites?

Thanks!

I don't know about others, but I bought something from Best Buy through Mypoints and never got the points. It was too much hassle to fight with so I gave up. I have since only gotten the "free points" with them and have done my shopping through ebates.com who gives you cash for a percentage of your purchases. They currently give 1% cash back for Best Buy.

If you are interested in joining ebates, I would love to refer you. Please PM me if you are interested.

Yes, the two systems do read each other as long as you click on the merchant site through the Mypoints site. It generally takes a while for Mypoints to credit your account with the points generated through purchases; you will need to track this (easy to do--I just save all the emails I receive confirming my purchases).

So far I have only had one instance where Mypoints didn't credit a purchase, and once I emailed them about it, they took about 10 days to credit me (like I said, they are slow!).

I purchase on line fairly frequently, so Mypoints works out well for me. I just gave DH a $10 gift certificate for Starbucks that I earned through Mypoints :) , and I'm well on my way to another one thanks to the flowers I ordered for Mother's Day through Mypoints.

I use mypoints all the time when ordering from Office Depot and never have had any problems getting my points credited. Office Depot is one of the few retailers that credits your points overnight. I also bought from HSN and those points are in a holding position - usually takes about 30 days to get them credited. As long as you enter the retailers site from mypoints you will get the points credited.

I guess I don't have that much patience. With the Best Buy thing, they wanted a copy of the invoice mailed to them. I only had the packing slip and they wouldn't accept that. I just gave up. Like I said, I don't have that much patience. However, I just read somewhere else that Mypoints now give 2pts for Priceline. Ebates used to give 2%, but they stopped. It might be time to use Mypoints again.

Another good site for this is Stockback.com. They will actually send you a check once your rebate equals $25. I've had excellent results with them and it seems like a much better deal than MyPoints since I can cash the check and spend on whatever I want (like a WDW vacation) rather than just getting a GC.

I had no trouble with the points being credited to my account. I think it took a few weeks and it showed up under my Pending Points. I save my email confirmation from Best Buy until the points are credited just in case. But I do that with all the orders through mypoints just in case. Hope that it helps.

FYI in case anyone didn't know - I just found out - You need to change your pop up blocker to accept from My Points. I recently made a purchase that was not credited then read that My Points can't read the transaction if pop-ups aren't allowed.

It's always a good idea to keep the email that you receive from your order (from Bestbuy or JCPenney or whereever). Once you receive those points, you can delete them. If your points do not credit within 30 days, just email them and include a copy of your original invoice. I have never had a problem where points weren't credited. MyPoints has been the most reliable rewards program FOR ME.

If you notice when you click on the Best Buy button through mypoints that the URL in the address window will still say MyPoints.

Some good ones that I get lots of points for is Office Depot. You can get 1000 points per month for an order of $200 or more. Luckily I order the office supplies, etc. for our office, so I usually get 1000 points a month and these credit overnight.

I also just booked a hotel through Hotwire and those were 750 points over night.

Tupperware used to be 1000 points overnight for a purchase of, I believe, $40 or more. But I can't find the Tupperware link lately.

Also, 1-800 contacts used to be 750 per purchase, but I haven't been able to find that one lately either.

I also had a problem with MYPOINTS and crediting points from a Best Buy purchase. I simply contacted them about the missing points, forwarded my order confirmation from Best Buy, and MYPOINTS responded by crediting the points to my account. I agree that you should keep all of your order confirmations from your purchases until you see that the points have been credited to your account. Once credited, you can delete the confirmations. Keep in mind, however, that a lot of purchases do take the 30 days to be posted.
BTW, one good deal on MYPOINTS right now is 750 points for purchasing the Entertainment Book which is on sale for $9.99 plus $5.00 shipping. The 750 points is good weekly so you can buy more than one book provided you only do one a week.

Completely agree about keeping all order confirmation invoices until you get the points. To take it step further, I set up a folder in my email called "MyPoints purchases" and I immediately move those invoices to that folder. Every once in awhile I go into My Points and make sure I got all the points due me (then I delete those emails). This saves me from having those emails cluttering my inbox, and keeps me from accidentally deleting them. I've had to email customer service from time to time, but they've always given me my points.
