MyPoints has filed bankruptcy

I read this on another board.I knew that MyPoints was owned by UAL the company that owns United Airlines,US Air etc.

I am glad I just cashed out.I LOVE MyPoints and am hoping for the best for them(and us)

I am still getting emails for points, so maybe they will stay around for a while. I sure hope so.... I have over 4200 points right now.

I've been with them forever too! It's been so long that there was a time when I had no idea why they were sending me all those emails, LOL! I'm glad I finally figured that out

I really hope that they stay around, not only do I have 2000 points pending right now, I have noticed a dramatic increase in emails the last couple of days. I am talking 5 - 7 a day!

I love this site, I hope they stay around.

I too have noticed an increase in email offers lately, and I just received 1600 points from Tupperware too! I hope they stick around. However, since I have enough for either a $25 Web Cert, or RFC GC, I think I should cash out. I think with a Web Cert. I could get a longer expiration date than with the RFC GC.
Anyone have any ideas?

From reading the link that Mal posted, it's my understanding that UAL filed chapter 11. Isn't this just for protection while they restructure (like USAirways is doing now)? We have flights booked with USAirways this summer and all flights are running even though they also filed for bankruptcy. I can't believe that we are getting so many emails if they are going out of business.

You're right and they likely won't go out of business - at least not right away. But I'm sure everyone is trying to cash out anyway - like me. Its obvious that their servers are overwhelmed right now. I'm just going to try again later. I don't feel comfortable having so many points just sitting there right now. I will continue to use the site as I always have, but will cash out each time I hit 3500 points from now on.

...and boy oh boy, did we do a lot of shopping through this site this Christmas season! I can't wait to see if we get those points. I guess the one thing I I can be thankful for is that the only way I'll purchase anything online is if I get a better deal than I can at a local vendor. I just consider the points an added bonus. At least it wouldn't be an "out of pocket" loss if they don't come through with the points.
