MyPoints/Disney

A lot of people cash out for Rainforest Cafe GC to use while in WDW.

Thanks ya'll, I actually already have Rainforest GCs. And I knew there wasn't a direct way to get a Disney GC. I thought maybe someone knew a way like a webcertificate then go to Disney shopping or maybe a store like Wal-mart where they carry GCs for other stores/places?? I guess I could just save my points and maybe the site will offer the Disney Store one day! (didn't at one time they have a click-thru for the Disney Store? or am I crazy?) Again thank you!

There used to be a web certificate, but now it looks like there's only one for Canadian stores. You can get a Walmart giftcard, I just don't know if you can buy a gift card with a gift card (never tried.) I usually just get the Old Navy cards and use them to buy clothes for DD's or me.

I'm moving this to the rewards board. Maybe someone there will have a creative way of converting those MyPoints to a Disney GC. Personally, I just get Target GCs and then put the money I would have spent at Target into my Disney Fund.

One place you might want to check is Walgreens. They have a big selection of gift cards, and you can buy other store's gift cards with their gift card. I've never looked for Disney gift cards, but they might have it.

I don't think there is a way. I quit using mypoints as the gift card selection has dwindled down to nothing appealing (sorry I don't have a walmart near me and I don't go to target often). I think I'll probably cash out for a RFC gift card when I get the points for it and give up on mypoints.

Thanks everyone, I will call Wal-mart and see if they have any kind of Disney GC, if not then maybe there's a way to get a pre-paid Visa??? then I could use it anywhere! Otherwise, I'll just hold my points til my next trip and use more RFC.I appreciate all the replies and if anyone else has suggestions keep 'em coming:banana:

Watch those pre-paid Visas! I have read (not experienced personally) that they will take money off of it every month that you don't use it or something like that. But if you use it quickly that wouldn't be a problem.

Our family has a gas/fuel budget. So I cash out for gas cards and when I use them I take the $25.00 out of that budget and put it in out travel budget. :)

I also do this with Walmart from our grocery budget. But the cashout on these are a bit higher at mypoints. :(

I think I figured out why this is today. Cindy talked to someone at corporate from Walmart and not only do they not do any bulk discounts for cards, but they actually charge you SHIPPING on them! Usually if you do a bulk purchase, you can at least get free shipping. I figured Mypoints would have better luck than we do with walmart, but apparently not.

Hmmm, that is very interesting. Good to have people in the know around here. :)

Hey Tricia! Shouldn't you be on your forum giving us the second clue in the contest. :)

ahh maybe that explains why there are such large discrepancies in point values for cards of the same value. I'm getting tired of mypoints. They aren't as fun as other sites. ;)

LOL! I can't help it!! I need my DIS fix. Between our trip in October and looking into DCLs for next year, I have had Disney on the brain all day. What am I talking about? All week!!!

Mypoints is actually going public soon. Something weird. Like they are already owned by United, which I think is public. But now Classmates and Mypoints are going to be their own public offering? I only half read it. But it basically said that Mypoints continues to do REALLY well. Which isn't surprising given the continuing increase of online shopping.

That makes sense. E-rewards is their own public entity (my company is researching them as a possible client) so I could see Mypoints going in that direction. They seem big enough or "corporate" enough to have their own stock. I'm not sure I'd want to invest in them but I'm investment shy anyways.

I get RC or gas cards from My Points. If they still do have WebCerts you could cash out for them and then buy Disney Cards from the Disney Store online. That's what I do with my FreeRide Visa money!
