Has anyone experience computer viruses brought on by MyPoints?

DH called me at work, very upset, that there were 2 viruses found, both with sources of MyPoints. I was on the home computer this AM and watch Norton and FixIt Utilities complete their virus scans and nothing was found then, at least not from MyPoints. He said he can't find the files to get them off the computer. Hopefully it really isn't anything, but he says the computer is really lagging when he plays his game online and cannot log on to one of his programs.

When I get back home I will have to check the system, run all the updates and see if I can get rid of them. I'll post back when I learn more for myself.

Why does he think there's a virus, and why does he think it came from Mypoints?

What were the names of the files that were found?

I would also like to know how he found out they came from My Points...Please let us know!

I DON'T KNOW WHERE HE GOT THE NOTION THAT MYPOINTS WA THE ORIGINATOR. (sorry about those caps)

He was having a problem accessing one of his programs and thought he'd blame it on something I did. I doubted it because I was on the computer just hours before that and had no problems. The biggest problem was with the site he was trying to get on, kept getting a page not found error.

I went home and cleaned up, no lie, 20,000 temp. internet files, ran two ant-virus programs and AdAware. Two virus-found messages popped up, but neither software program would remove the files. I found the two .exe files and manually deleted them. He's done disk cleanups before and though it was removing the old temp files, but obviously is wasn't cleaning all of the folders- there were like 8-10 temp internet folders, each with hundreds and thousands of items. The pc should run much faster now.

After uninstalling his program and attempting to download the freeware again, without success as he could not access their website, he was finally able to login to the site again this morning and I left him with the program up and running as before.

It was most likely the site he was trying to get to was experiencing difficulty.

Just curious, what WERE the name of the exe files? If you run a virus program and it can't clean them it'll quarentine them instead.
