Has anyone on here tested the magicbands? We are going for our Honeymoon at the end of October. Since we staying at the AKL, I'm assuming we will be able to use the new magicbands and FP+, however my main concern with the wristbands is how they fit ... I'm worried about them falling off while I'm in the parks or on a ride. Are they made to be secure?

I'm curious as to how waterproof they are. I wonder if we can wear them swimming.

We get ours tomorrow so I'll update Friday night after we get home how they fit, comfort, etc. :)

I can't wait to hear about whether or not they are comfortable. :hyper:This is exactly what I was just wondering.

Has anyone here worn one yet?? I'd love to hear thoughts on whether or not they were hot, if they were annoying, and if they stay on well.

Thank-you.... I know you've told me twice now. :goodvibes

But how can you be so sure? I'm staying at a test resort and the website instructs me to choose my magic bands and pick my fastpasses?

I'm not so sure either. When I last logged on to DME it said I had 2 days left to customize our magic bands for our trip next month. It seemed that if I didn't, they were just going to send us the gray ones. This to me seems like we are in whether we want to or not. I realize it says you can opt out but if that is the case, why would they send the magic bands ahead of time? I'm thinking that to opt out maybe we just need to request KTTW cards when we get there maybe?

Regardless of this though, I think we're going to try it just because I'm nervous about what kind of effect this will have on the availability of old FPs. My main concern is what kind of availability I will have for FP+ time slots when we are there. We've scheduled all of our attractions already (I believe all time slots were available for all attractions right now) but it would be nice to have some flexibility.

GREAT GREAT perspective Simba! Personally, I would love to do the mountains once and perhaps splash 2x in a day. However the only thing you missed here is the park hopping limitations... Now-say I get a FP+ for 12pm on BTMRR, then one at 2 for Space.. And lines are crazy so I decide to head to Epcot say for test track or even DHS for TSMM-I can't get a FP+ for that because I'm limited to one park... That's my biggest gripe-I've wondered how after my 3 FP+’s are used how I would spend the rest of the day in standby lines or park hop... Anyone have any ideas as to this or is the 3FP+ thing just a limit during testing??
Plus a few here are assuming that they might be able to get all three of the rides that they want. We don't know that yet.

Three fast passes at one park per day has been mentioned frequently in Disney documentation. There has also been mention of being offered more fast passes via app throughout the day. But no one really knows from what I've seen.

The website for me says I have until tomorrow to choose my bands. For now I choose to do nothing. I guess I'll call them tomorrow.

I think there are plenty of unintended consequences to come once Disney lets this genie out of the bottle.

Disney can control what they can.

Guests will control what they can
.

That's a good point. I always have been a bit of a rebel, and I resist control. I can see me spending less time in parks and more time doing something else (non-revenue) at the resort or off site.

This is what's driving me nuts about it! For having the app and the bands and rolling it out to "test groups" it's sure seems like its fully implemented so to speak... Now im waiting a year and change to find out what my plans can really be(besides dining) speaking of dining-anyone at the 180 day mark use the app to grab hot reservations like Cali Grill or Le Cellier or Cindy's??

I just moved park days and a few ADRs around a bit tonight to finalize our plans for August (not involving FP+, I'm a have-not). It is seriously like a puzzle making it all fit. The thought of overlaying a ride schedule on top at 60 days?....:crazy2:

Has anyone heard if Art of Animation will be part of the tests?

according from someone i believe AOA is also involved in the testing for August.
that comment below came just minutes ago in a disney group page on facebook.

My sister got picked to test them out while they stay at Disney in August I believe they are staying at Art of Animation.

Thanks!

I will be staying there from the 26th of October and hope to be able to use FastPass+ and MagicBand.

MDE (which I always interchange with DME :headache:), Magic Band and FP+ are all confusing to me.

I get the MDE app and so far I like it. I get it and I think it will be helpful for me instead of carrying a printout of my spreadsheet that lists our must-do, ADRs for the trip. My ADRs are automatically added and viewable in the app after the reservation is placed. However, our resort reservation are not automatically linked perhaps because its DVC and booked thru Member Services. We have 2 reservations for upcoming trip. I linked the first one which is 1 night in BLT LV studio on 11/29. I did not link the second reservation yet as I am not sure if I should - its for BLT 2BR LV from 11/30 to 12/7. We are planning to get a dining plan for the first reservation but not for the second one.

Should I go ahead and link the second reservation? I don't know if doing so will cause an issue.

Magic Band - I understand that if you stay onsite then you get these bands and are reusable for up to 3 years. We are DVC members and are staying at BLT so we will get these if they are implemented by the time we go (11/29/2013). I wonder when the resort information gets added to these bands. Is it when reservations are linked in MDE or upon check-in? I saw some post that you have a deadline to customize these bands. I don't even see anywhere in MDE where I can do that so I guess that option will not come up until they roll this out.

FP+ - we have bought and are going to buy our 5days MYW PH tickets from Undercover Tourist. Can those be linked and if yes, will we qualify for FP+? I thought I read somewhere that FP+ are for AP holders only. We don't have any trips planned since we are saving up for 2015 Australia trip so it doesn't make sense to upgrade to AP unless the DVC discounted AP is offered again this year.

I hope and are looking forward get to use these on our trip!

Can't help you with the other stuff, but as far as FP+ goes: Assuming FP+ is "fully" live by the time of your visit, you will be eligible using those 5 day hoppers from Undercover. Likely, they will have code numbers on them that you can link to your account. However, I believe the FP+ is more so tied into room reservations than it is to your tickets. I'm not 100% certain about this, but I think you can reserve FP+ options even if you don't have tickets yet, as long as you're staying on property.

I believe the same goes for magic bands. The bands simply identify you as you, via a digital code number. If/when you add/link tickets, they are then assigned to you (your band).

1- I believe the FP+ is more so tied into room reservations than it is to your tickets.

3- I believe the same goes for magic bands.

4- The bands simply identify you as you, via a digital code number. If/when you add/link tickets, they are then assigned to you (your band).

1- It has always been that Disney has connected FP+ with tickets and not with resorts.
The only FP+ relation to resorts is (currently) that is how Disney has been selecting FP+ test candidates.

2- As stated, FP+ is related to owning tickets, not reserving resort rooms,
and has no connection to staying on or off property.
HOWEVER- During TESTING, Disney has been choosing test members from guests staying at on-property resorts.
I think that this particular situation will cause confusion for months (if not years.)

3- The info has been that guests choosing on-property resort packages would be automatically sent MagicBands pre-checkin.
It has always be stated that any guest (even off-property or local residents) can purchase and use a MagicBand.

4-That is correct.

hmmm...we are staying at AoA from Aug 18-23 and actually requested to be part of the testing but got a dear John letter that we were not eligible.

To be more precise, everything now links to an MDX profile.

A MagicBand or your "admission card" is they key to the profile. Note that Disney no longer calls it a ticket - it's an "admission card", and serves the same function as a MagicBand for most purposes. The admission card may be purchased with a ticket entitlement "on" it, but when you register it, it places the ticket entitlement in your profile, and links the admission card ID to the profile as well.

Also part of your profile are resort reservations, dining reservations (ADRs), and Fastpass+ reservations. By registering a resort reservation, that _might_ enable other features, like the +10 ability on making dining reservations, and also the rumored +10 ability on FP+ reservations, within the window of the reservation.

When making FP+ reservations, it looks to your profile for eligibility, which in general (as we currently know it) is that you have a valid ticket entitlement active in your profile, with the appropriate number of days available and within the allowed range for that class of ticket (60 days for MYW and AP, unknown for others), and that you are eligible (an arbitrary flag controlled by Disney). It does not necessarily look to your reservation, except potentially for that +10 benefit...it doesn't know if the ticket you have active is the one that will be used for that reservation or perhaps an off-site stay or day trip. (Package tickets may be handled a bit differently, but I doubt it, since many people get packages and keep the tickets for later use)

For day trippers, or those that buy tickets but never establish an MDX profile, my assumption is that on entry it creates an "anonymous" profile, which allows admission and perhaps day-of FP+ use and limited kiosk use for arranging FP+ that day and maybe the next X days, but there would be no app or web access.
