I just went back to my personal trip reports for our 11 trips since 2008, and I was shocked to discover that only one day did we ever grab more than 3 rounds of Fast Passes (not counting the extra Give-a-Day Fast Passes which we had on one trip).

And here I thought I was a FP super-user!

I sure had the impression that I had been a FP runner more times than that per day, but it's amazing sometimes what reality reveals.

Then good luck getting any decent FPs together if this thing rolls out before you visit.

For us, luckily, it's not a big issue since WDW queues are super short compared to our local resort and we are just taking it easy while we are here. I think for many people though this will be a big problem unless hopefully Ses1230 is right and it's just not functioning yet because of testing.

Can you imagine the disappointment of MANY when the Mine Coaster is open and someone books a trip to try it out, but doesn't realize FP has changed? How likely are they to be a repeat customer when they are told they needed to book it 60 days prior?

I really don't think this is such a huge issue in the larger picture though. FP+ will run out just like FP runs out and people will just adjust their plans. Some people will complain but I think the majority of people won't care. It's not like the queue closes when FP or FP+ runs out. FP+ has and will have some problems sure but this particular problem is not that much different from when regular FP runs out, in my opinion.

Yes, and they better not be late. Because that is one ride I imagine will fill every FP+ slot from the first of the day through the last. I think any rope drop advantage will be gone in very short order.

I think the whole thing will be great-- who wants to be at rope drop to run for a fp or to ride the attractions that get mobbed? who wants to have to get their kids up and rush them to get ready when on vacation? All you have to do is be able to select a park for a day, or even an afternoon, ahead of time. people can make ADR;s, so get a couple fpp's for before or after your adr, tour the parks as you normally would at your leisure, be at the park with your ADR as you usually would, and get a few quick ride attractions at the same time. Then go to your resort and relax.


And I have been asking on several threads if any one can show any evidence that fpp will be available to off site guests-- I don't think you can do anything on MDE without first inputting a stay...

Q.Is FastPass+ service complimentary?


A.Yes. FastPass+ service is complimentary for FastPass+ eligible Guests with valid theme park admission.

Disney is stating that FP+ will be for everyone with a valid ticket. This would include off-site guest.

Also, our family has 1 day in MK. 1 DAY! And we visit during peak season. We would NEVER be happy strolling into MK at noon and riding a few rides and heading back to our off-site resort. The tickets to Disney cost much to much to ride a couple of rides!!

I have very little trouble getting my family out the door for rope drop. We are always early. And we are late everywhere we go!! Except to Disney parks! We are usually very excited and can't wait to get out the door to the parks. I find it odd the people that come to Disney and don't count the minutes until they can get in the park. But we are glad there are those families!

Okay for anyone who has ever cancelled a package reservation before...

... do they ask you the reason you are cancelling it?
I have had to re-schedule one but not outright cancel so I don't know if they ask.

Will the number that state the limit of fastpass+ be a reason?

Will Disney start charging a fee of one night's stay if you cancel a resort package at any point? Sort of like an insurance policy to prevent them.

It's like a no-risk situation for families. I could book a package and pay with my Disney Visa (no interest on the $200 and have 6 months to pay too). Then 60 days out for two whole weeks, I could be in the position of reward Disney with my vacation dollars or not situation because if your "magical experience" is not what you were hoping for you could - just cancel. Nothing out of my pocket technically - just have to wait for the return of the deposit to the credit card.

I still don't believe we are going to go Disney next year - I need time to figure out how this works out to be an advantage and desirable for our family to have to mess with all the hoops I feel you will have to jump through.

When TSM opened at TDS normal FP were out literally 15minutes after park opening for the first few months and still during holidays. The queue is still regularly in the 2hour range. FP lasts a little longer now, about an hour after opening on weekdays but you still have to get there in the morning. So whether FP or FP+ is in effect it will run out fast.

I think people will anticipate that it will be a tough get for some time. But I don't think they will anticipate the possibility that every single fastpass will be gone before they walk through the gates.

I'm just saying it's not going to engender warm fuzzy feelings about Disney. And it's not like they can learn from that mistake and just go back the next day earlier to get their FP. The FP opportunity will likely be gone for the length of their stay.

Right now, that's a lot of work for zero benefit. Disney has NOT said that having a reservation gives you any benefit beyond any ticket holder, aside from the increased likelyhood of getting access to it a bit earlier.

If you are doing it by getting a package, and pre-booking based on the package ticket, I would assume that if you cancel, the FP+ would all be removed as well. If you already have a ticket, then you don't really need to book a reservation.

It is rumored that there may be a +10 benefit like with ADRs.

I think people will anticipate that it will be a tough get for some time. But I don't think they will anticipate the possibility that every single fastpass will be gone before they walk through the gates.

I foresee the self-fulfilling prophesy that made CRT and Le Cellier so hard to get for so long...everyone says it is hard to get, so everyone tries to get it early, so it IS hard to get...

Well, yes..... partly.

CRT resolved itself by adding characters to the other 2 meals during the day and adding times so it goes almost nonstop.

LC resolved itself by bumping up to 2 credits.

Maybe now is the time to contact Disney with my idea to create "signature rides" that require 2 FP+ credits. I can think of 3 or 4 candidates........

- It is a slow loader. The hourly capacity of the attraction is quite low.
- It has no age/height requirements, making it available to all guests, unique among regular Fastpass attractions at DHS

Fastpasses were regularly getting to around lunchtime for a while, but then they made changes to the loading area which apparently slowed loading further...and to compensate they had to reduce the number of FP available, which resulted in them running out sooner again.

I don't ever recall them running out in 15 minutes though. I'm not sure the FP kiosks themselves can work that fast...

Well, that plus adding that you have to pre-pay CRT, and adding cancellation penalties for no-shows helped as well.

I can only speak for TSM at DisneySea but yes, the FP were regularly running out after 15 minutes after opening! I believe it was probably a line cut situation combined with 15minute early entry.

Maybe the majority of people posting on this thread are against fpp, but I don't think this is a fair representative of all DISers. Historically the negatives are more outspoken. How many times is someone interested in saying Yey. Unhappy people like to be heard.

I totally agree with you. I love disney and i dont always love change but with Disney change is always a good thing. This is why they TEST it. It will all pan out in the end i have faith in Disney. So for all you whiners you really need to get a better hobby. It is what it is no matter how much crying you do. Its called technology..... Pixie dust to all for FD
