Hi everyone,

I don't know if you've already heard talking about Mylène Farmer ? She's one of the most famous French singers. She sold milions albums from her very beginnings in 1984. She's an icon on the French gay community.

It's been almost a year since I've gone to her show for her Indoor tour. To celebrate this anniversary, I would like to share with you a video of this concert. The video has been taken at the Stade de France in Paris last september during her stadiums tour.

To watch the video, click here

I hope you'll enjoy this video !

All I can say is Wow!!!

What a stage show and the caged outfit thing - strange but wow! And you can tell the crowd adore her. Thanks for sharing I have never heard of her :thumbsup2

Salut Kevin,

Je la connais bien, ainsi que Patricia Kaas et Alizée.

Unfortunately, most Americans absolutely refuse to listen to music that is not sung in English. In fact, you'll never, ever hear any French performers on American radio stations. You'll have a greater chance at winning the lottery.

American: "What? I don't want to listen to that &^#%$#! I can't understand what they're saying."

In 1987 I saw U2 in concert in Paris. It didn't matter to the French that all U2 songs were sung, of course, in English--they sang along anyway, possibly not understanding all the words. It just goes to show you how close-minded Americans are and how open-minded the French (and other nationalities) are with regard to other languages. Did you know that the US has no official language?

I hope you're proud to be French; you live in a great country.

Je raffole du TGV...je pourrais passer toute la journée en regardant passer les TGV à 300 ou bien 320 km/h (même rouler dedans)!!

I don't know what she was singing but I liked it. I may be american, but I still appreciate music sung in different languages. As long as it has a good beat and makes my banana dance!

Mylène Farmer is a huge Star in France (even in the other French speaker countries) like Madonna in the U.S. (Madonna is very famous in France as well). Each concert that she performs is always a big event and always sold out. We use to say that her concerts are real American show to describe her shows.

Mylène Farmer is a singer apart in France, because she's very mysterious. Her performances on TV Shows are rare, she doesn't give much interviews either. And we can say that her universe is really apart too, because she’s strange. Her songs are talking about sex, death and melancholy.

That for all those reason adore. Mylène Farmer, she loves her public in return and she’s close to it.

I know that the US has no other official language than English. Like the US, France has no other official language than French. But I agree when you say French are open-minded. For us it doesn't matter if we don't understand each word on a song. It's not the principal if the beat is good like says Sphyrna

Even if I'm in love with the US and English. Yes I'm really proud to be French and proud of my mother tongue.

Tonight, I've been glad to share this video with you and so glad you love it!! Thank you

P.S: I forgot to give you the name of the song that you can hear on the video. This song is called "Paradis Inanimé" and it's the opening track from her last show.

Wdwpins, your French is excellent !!

Kevin,

The US has never declared any language as its official one, unlike in France where you have declared French as your official language.

Hello wdwpins,

I'm sorry I misunderstood what you wrote. I thought you were saying that English is the offcial language of the US. And I was certain the US has declared English as official language. You learned me something new!
There's a reason why the US has never declared English as official language ?

I not plan yet another trip to Florida. But I'm sure I'll come back (maybe next year). I'll let you know when I'll come back in Florida and count on you to show me Cap Canaveral, cause it's something I couldn't see last year during my stay at WDW (not time enough).

Yes, Kevin, believe it or not...the US has no official language. I don't know why this is.

What's even crazier is that you can watch many programs on our major English-language networks either dubbed or subtitled in Spanish. "Disponible en espanol." However, Telemundo and Univision (2 major Spanish-language networks) won't offer any programming either subtitled or dubbed into English--and there's a huge English-speaking market here in the US. I'd love to turn on Sabato Gigante but I don't want to have to learn Spanish in order to enjoy the show.

Amitiés,

Joel

Great!
Now I'm hungery for Freedom Fries!
:lmao:

While we're discussing the fact that the U.S. has no national language, here's a trivia question for you.

If a person who speaks two languages is called bilingual . . .

and a person who speaks more than two languages is called multilingual or a polyglot . . .

what do you call a person who speaks only one language?

Oh ... And I have 3 French stations,
2 Brazilian stations, 1 Italian, and one Spanish/Ibiza station.
I listen to on a regular basis - so we're not all so walled off.

Yes, I have friends who have been (to Barcelona) and it's beautiful.

Well, here's hoping you and Freddie get to go soon! (But only if you send me something nice as a souvenier). :teeth:
