Improved iOS edition of 'My Disney Experience' app set to launch soon

A significant update to the MyMagic+ 'My Disney Experience' app is set for imminent release, addressing many of the performance and usability issues.

The newly updated app will first be released for Apple's iOS devices, with Android following later in the year. Expect to see an updated home screen giving an at-a-glance list of your plans, improved navigation, and faster performance.

The app will be delivered as an update to the existing 'My Disney Experience' app via the App Store.

Later this year for Android... not surprising since more and more people are leaving Apple.

Apple's iOS US share, Q4 2013 - 41.8%, up 1.2% from Q3.

Android US share - 51.5%, down .3%.

In addition, iOS users are wealthier and spend far more money than Android users. That's exactly the kind of customer Disney wants to take care of first.

How annoying. Though I suppose it's best to Let them use iPhone folk as the guinea pigs for the latest incarnation of the dysfunctional app. Perhaps it will actually work by the it's available for my android.

Android users may be treated like second class, but I have a Windows phone. What does that make me? :goodvibes

Why all the negativity based on what kind of phone a person has?

I have an Apple, I like it. My best friend has an Android. We get along - we go to Disney together with our families. I've played with my mom's Android tablet but did not like the interface, and the selection of apps was kind of disappointing (she wanted some I had, and they weren't there).

They generally makes apps first for Apple, I think there is some sort of relationship with Disney and Apple, it escapes me right now. But I think I heard someone say that iOS is also easier to create apps for, so they generally make that first than modify it for Android...not certain, just want I think I heard.

I was joking. Maybe it wasn't funny, but I did think it was pretty apparent.

My son is getting a Windows phone when he goes to college. They require a Windows computer, and he figures they can eventually interact. A coworker of mine has a Windows phone, but I haven't tried it out yet. The tiled interface spooked me a little. I'll play with his when he gets it...:goodvibes

I like my phone, but let your son know that Windows phones don't have anywhere the number of apps available to download as IPhones and Androids...in case that matters to him.

I think Steve jobs was the largest individual stock holder in Disney at the time of his death. I believe his estate still owns the stock. I would assume that probably contributes to the Disney-Apple relationship.

He doesn't care much about the apps, although he is always playing the games on his iPad, which he plans to pass to his father! A few game apps will probably keep him happy; he likes surfing the web more.

A lot of companies make apps for iOS first because there are fewer options for them. The only things it runs on are iPhones and iPads ... so fewer screen dimensions/display ratios, fewer processor types, things like that. Android phones are made by 1001 companies, and have varying screen sizes and resolutions, run different versions of Android, etc etc etc. So it's just less work to get it running on iOS than it is on Android.

Samsung's new computers now interact with their Galaxy phones/tablets. It's called SideSync, and since I own a GS3 (and plan on getting a GS5 at the end of summer), that was the real tipping point in my decision between getting a Samsung ATIV Tab 7 and an Acer Iconia W7 (well, that and the Acer doesn't have a microSD slot to expand memory).

Still several steps up from a BlackBerry user :rotfl2:

Ditching BB for iPhone was the best thing I ever did!

When I see any announcements for changes from Disney, I have to admit it makes me a bit nervous. I did selectively pick out a key word in the quote in the opening post: "Faster" Now that, I can live with :)

Title of this thread should be changed, nothing has been announced, it's just a rumour that was posted on a non-Disney affiliated blog.
