Hi all- I got so much info from this site planning my special day, I wanted to give back. So here's some details and review about my escape wedding. I will be getting the pictures from our wedding and epcot photoshoot back in about 4 weeks, so will post those then!!
Details: December 5th, 2009 2:30 PM, Polynesian
We stayed at Bay Lake Tower 12/2-12/9. 4th floor had a great view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night
Location: Of course, we had planned on Sunset Pointe, but it was just too cold and had rained earlier, so was still quite wet. We were given the option of using the chapel (at no additional cost!), but I turned it down because I wanted to stick with the Polynesian Tiki theme ( I know you may think I'm crazy). So, our Polynesian indoor back-up location was a small room right off of the main lobby. Was small, cute and true to the Polyensian atmosphere. Luckily, we were able to take all the pictures outside afterwards.
Planner/Cordinator: Karen Serrette: No complaints. I never conversed with her over the phone, only through email. But, that was better for me anyway. She responded quickly to all my requests, but was not the one there on our wedding day. Tanis was there. She was warm and friendly. She went out of her way to make me feel like it was all about us. She felt more like an extended family member just there to make sure everything goes smoothly and provide us guidance. When I forgot my veil at my resort, they gladly waited for my dad to run and get it-pushing back our start time a tad (dont' even ask how I forgot my veil, it was a hectic day).
Ceremony Photography: We added on the photojournalistic package, which includes 2 photographers. One of which shoots strictly in photojournalistic style. We had Amy & Rick (whom I requested). I canot say enough good things about them, without even seeing the pictures yet. They did show us some on their camera displays that looked To DIE FOR. They kept me laughing the entire time. And it's hard to smile for that long, so I appreciated it! Anyways, we had a BLAST. You can tell they truely enjoy their jobs.
Epcot Photoshoot: Got rained out on our orginal day. Disney called us the night before to reschedule for a diff. day. Weather was perfectly overcast for photogs. Ty was our photography. SO nice. He took time to find out what kind of pictures we really wanted. We wanted non-traditional very artistic shots. The only criticism that I have is that I could have easily spent about 2 hours there, but only had 1. There were so many more awesome shots we could have goten if Disney would increase the shoot time as an option. We got great pictures in 3 countries and one in front of our resort on the way back.
Hair & Make-Up: Patricia LeJeune: Purely based on recommendations off of this site, I booked Patricia for my wedding day. I did my own hair & make-up for the Epcot photoshoot day. She was professional, timely, nice and really captured what I wanted. I recommend bringing pictures, like I did. The airbrush makeup was worth every penny. My fiance got airbushed as well a tad. It really just consealed under eye circles for him. But, if you can talk your fiance into airbrush m/u for your wedding... do it! Patricia said she would call me later in the day to come back, or send someone else back, before dinner to touch me up.... and never did! That's the only criticism I have. Needless to say, I would have said "oh no, I'm fine don't send anyone back". But still, it would have been nice to get a call seeing if I needed a touch-up. She showed up at 6am and my wedding wasn't until 2:30.
Cake: Almond with Bavarian cream (bottom tier) and Marble with Chocolate mouse (top tier). What we actually got was: Almond with Bavarian cream (bottom tier) and Almond with chocolate mouse (top tier). But, it was delicious so who's gunna complain about that?! The Almond with bavarian cream was the huge winner here. Every LOVED it. Incase you're sondering, the bavarian cream is like a vanilla pudding. Kind of like what the skol bread at Norway is filled with. Makes the cake super moist.
Dinner Afterwards: We had 5:35 reservations for the California Grille at the Contemporary, party of 11. It was delicious, but then again.. I never saw the bill... eeek! p.s. We had sushi!
I cannot wait to send you guys a link to the pictures! Let me know if there's anything I forgot to review on this & I'll add it. I could not have done it without access to this amazingly resourceful site
