Okay, so my wife says i'm obsessed with the boards. Every conversation we have ends up about Kevin or Julie, or Corie. etc... She says that after our upcoming trip im going to have a meltdown or depression.
I need ideas to show her that she's wrong. I mean, I do stay up after shes asleep and blog for a couple hours every night, and I am an obsessive trip planner, but I think Ill be ready to go back to work after 14 days at the parks..
I dont plan to stop blogging after the trip, do most people? The thing is, I try to listen to the podcast when she is with me, and she always enjoys it or laughs and asks "were not going to the sad little crab cake place are we?" , but as soon as its over, shes back on her "your too obsessed with the boards" kick.
Anyone else have this problem?
Is there a support group?

I'm not even planning a trip in the near future and I am obsessed with the podcast and boards too! I am always bringing up Pete, Kevin and the rest of the team as well. At least now..I can just say "oh...Pete said....blah blah blah..." and DH knows who I am talking about. I don't have to say "Pete from the podcast...or Kevin from the podcast.."

All I can say is its a good thing Pete, Kevin, Walter and John are gay because my dh would probably think I had a thing for them!! :rotfl2:

DW thinks I'm obsessed also, because I'm on the DisBoards everyday. I'm just researching for our next trip:thumbsup2

I think this is the support group.

I am pretty sure DW went to the TSM event to make sure that I really didn't have "invisible" friends. I even heard her say, "John is so nice."

I've been back about 3 weeks and am participating in the boards as much as before the trip. If that's an obsession, count me in.

Tell her Kevin, Julie and Corey say you are perfectly normal....

See that doesn't work for my wife, she thinks I may be closeted.:rotfl:
I always make comments about how much I love these "guys" and she gives me that look...

it's not bad to be obsessed with the boards if you have time to be on the boards do it!!

thats what I say, ill sleep when Im dead, its time to DIS BLOG!!!!:surfweb:

There are many worse things that you could be obsessed with. You're wife should consider herself lucky. Sneaking out to the computer for a little Dis chat...that's nothing in the grand scheme.

It is funny how we can start sentences using the names of people we've never actually met and feel completely normal about it.

OMG that is so funny!!

Hi my name is Melissa and I'm obsessed with the podcast board. :rotfl:

Just wanted to join the support group. :goodvibes

The sad thing is I feel like I have to hide when I'm on the boards. If I hear my husband coming downstairs, I quickly switch to a different screen. If he sees anything Disney related on the computer he just gives me "that look". I mean he enjoys going to DisneyWorld. He just doesn't understand this obsession.

At least this addiction is not harmful to my body. And it does calm my mind inbetween trips. So maybe it's a good thing. :thumbsup2

Yes, this IS the support group!!!

And tell your wife not to worry, there will be no meltdown. You'll be back on the boards, just like the rest of us, to plan for the next trip!!!:surfweb:

You seem to be stating these things like there is a problem??? I don't understand. I find it completely normal to have to check on my laptop to check-in for a few minutes here and there. And, I find it completely normal that five minutes after I've walked away from my laptop that is still open to the Disboards that I sit down at my desktop and check to see what people might have posted while I was gone. :confused3

I had this problem for years. :rotfl: Then DH started listening to the podcast and now he's hooked on the boards. He doesn't plan, he just goes with the flow. :goodvibes Last night at Midnight, I woke him up to ask what he thought about my vacation plans for 2011, yep, 2011. :rotfl:

Last night while I was concocting the "Julie Had Her Baby" post, I was snickering soooooo hard, it woke her from a dead sleep, I tried to splain what I was doin, yep, you guessed it, I got "the look"

I occasionally get the look too when I mention something about the podcast or the boards. That said, DW doesn't really complain because all of the tips and information make our trips go a lot smoother.

i KNOW RIGHT!!!!!????!!!!??? i TOTALLY SAVED A BUTTLOAD WHEN THE 4/3 DEAL CAME OUT FOR OUR TRIP I was so excited and I told her, I probably wouldnt even have known unless the boards said it....

still, "the look"

I know what you mean. I'm sitting in our living room with the football game on chuckling about this post and a couple of others and DW keeps asking what. I just say a post on the DIS and that's when I get the eye roll. :rotfl2:
