I just flat out told her that I will never go into one again, ever. I can't hand over like $15 for a bad frozen pizza. I can't watch my money go into a machine faster than a slot machine, knowing that I have ZERO chance of walking away with more than I came with. And, it even disappears FASTER than at the casino. I can usally make a $100 last all night at a casino.... that's like 2 hours at CEC if you include food.

I get the shivers just thinking about that place....

She's actually pretty upset. But this time she is gonna have to live with it, cuz no way am I ever stepping into one of those places again.

Heck, I can take my whole family to www.knoebels.com for a WHOLE day and spend less than 2 hours of bad food and bad games at CEC.

I feel your pain, I would rather shoot myself in the foot then EVER go to Chuck E. Cheese again!

I haven't stepped in one in almost 10 years now. You couldn't pay me to go to that place! *shudder*

Welcome back from the Dark Side. Chuck E Cheese is evil. I made the same statement you made about 4 years ago and so far, I have stuck to my word. I don't even like driving by that place. I'd rather have a frontal lobotomy. :thumbsup2

HAHA!!!

Have to agree with most of the comments... but SSB still loves going there with the kiddos. My boys in particular just have a great time! :)

SSB even buys the MEGA batches of tokens to get the most free ones, just so I feel like not quite as bad in the end... haha!

I have to admit it has been some time since I have had to deal with Chuck E. Cheese, but even back in the day, I hated it for exactly those reasons...

Yikes...

You just needed to buy a more beer.

Really when my kids were the CEC age I almost never made my poor husband go. Bad enough he had to pay for it. He would rather do the laundry than visit the Rat. Worked for me.

Gosh did I hate the ticket thing. We would always come home with a pile of junk that was treasure in the kids eyes.

If yours is anything like ours, I'm with you. Nasty staff and horrible little kids and even worse parents. Some of the black people who work in my office say the one closest to me has gotten "ghetto". They won't step foot in it because of how bad that place has gotten.

It's not as bad if you go early in the morning when they first open. We don't go often so I don't mind shelling out the money to go but I can't stand smelling sweaty kids. It isn't smelly if you go in the morning. ;) Plus I feel like I can keep a closer eye on the kiddos when it isn't as crowded.

We don't do CEC anymore.

Now, my DH drags me to our local Organ Piper Pizza. Instead of kids screaming and throwing tokens into games, you get kids screaming and the Star Wars theme played on the organ.

Actually, I like the place! :) At least the one we go to. Last friday the kids were off and we stopped at CEC for a bit. We NEVER eat there so that might make a difference. I paid $12.50 for 100 tokens - had a coupon for buy 50 get 50 free - and when they were gone we were done. We stay about 45 minutes. I even like some of the games!

Things I have seen at CEC:
1) my then 7 year old daughter having some boy run by her and steal her token bag out of her little hand--manager gave us more, but that kind of tells you what environment you are functioning in
2) a kid walking up the skeeball ramp to put all of the balls in the 100 slot--and parents watching and laughing
3) same lines--a kids holding open that trash can where the animal pops up and you throw balls into it--so other kids could put all of their balls into it and get more tickets--again, parents laughing about it

If I want to see white trash behavior I'll rent that Brittney Spears video of her marriage and spend less money doing it.

I only go there now if a relative has a BDay--and I think they (my nieces) have grown out of it, thank God--DS wants a BDay party in June, and I think I'll take his friends to the minor league ballpark, anything but CEC.

Out by us we have a place called Crazy Clydes. I would venture into Chuck E Cheeses before I go into there again without a hestitation. Thank goodness DD prefers Enchanted Castle. There even though you spend a lot of money there is things adults can do too. :thumbsup2

Our CEC is actually very clean and the staff really nice so I don't mind taking my DD every now and then. However, we go in the morning before it gets crowded. Also, I don't buy food there. It's really overpriced. After about an 1 1/2 my DD is hungry so she cashes in her tokens and we go across the parking lot to McDonalds. She's happy and I haven't gone insane  :rotfl2: .

OK, I don't have kids, but I HAVE to tell you my CEC story...

When DH and I were first married we moved to Salt Lake City for his job. We met a couple and I would occasionally babysit when their regular sitter couldn't, or one evening so they could go out themselves.

So, anyway, I'm not sure how it came about (DH and I don't have kids), but we all decided to go to CEC's one day. They had two kids the older boy was gosh, I think just turned 4 and the little sister 18 months. She was a DOLL. He was a good kid, but apparently his potty training had gone awry when little sister came around. He never wet his pants, but he was known to poop in them. :confused3

So, DH and I played games and played with the kids. We all sat down and ate our pizza. After eating DH and I were off playing games ourselves cause we are just big kids.

There's a commotion over by the tunnels/ball area. Then we see the dad coming toward us telling us they were leaving. The little boy had pooped his pants in one of the tunnels and they had to close it for cleaning.

We haven't been to one since.

Awwwwww you're a good dad. :goodvibes

I just took my kids to CEC yesterday since it's Spring Break. LOL Pizza is AWFUL!! But I used the $9.99 coupon for a large pizza from the Kool-aid boxes, made em drink water and used the $12.50 buy 50 tokens get 50 free, plus had some of the 10 free ones from Kool aid box too. So, for under $25 we had a great time! :thumbsup2
