i cut myself off "days of our lives" soon after i graduated from college because, relatively, it got just plain stupid(or maybe i got smarter). my wife stopped watching also after i lost interest...it seemed to get more and more idiotic as i read the tv guide overview through the years but since all the killings began my wife has started watching "days" again and now is hooked...

however, now she tends to talk back to the tv as she watches it..i first thought maybe she was trying to lure me in to her soap opera web of deceit but i have resisted..but i will sneek up on her and she is still responding to the soap...

is this because she is in her middle 30's, or because she is pregnant, or both??? is their a twelve step program or some type of spousal support group?

I used to watch the soaps too but cut myself off when I realized how much time I was wasting every day (no offense to anyone who does watch :o) I really don't miss them. My mom watches them now and she talks to the TV too. I think it is a little bit creepy. Just kidding mom!:teeth:

well, my whole family talks back to the tv, and not only with soap operas, my sister and I especially, and we are 25 and 17

I hadn't watched a soap since the eighties.

I started watching them with my grandmother in the fifties when they were 15 minutes long.

Went back to watching when my kids were born.

Tuned one in just last week out of curiosity and was surprised to find the same characters still plugging away.

To anyone who watches As The World Turns, do you realize some of those actors have been playing the same character for almost 50 years? WOW

Don't you know that if you scream loud enough they might here you??

I always talk to the TV (tv shows). No real reason just do.

I was screaming at All My Children at work on Friday, gad those writers are Stupid!

Yep.. .since 1956. Some have left for a few years and come back (like Lisa), but others like Nancy and I believe Bob have been around since day 1.

My aunt and grandmother watched from day one, and actually started with it's "sister show" Guiding Light when it was on radio

another World was suppose to be a spin off of ATWT, and was set to air on CBS until the last minute. When it went off the air a few years ago several of the characters came over the ATWT. I believe all have been written off since.

and, what's the problem? Doesn't everyone? ;)

I never knew this ! Isn't the DIS a wonderful resource for info?

My grandmother watched all the CBS soaps....Guiding Light, Edge of Night ( I think that one later switched to ABC before it was cancalled? ) Search for Tomorrow.

She called them her "stories". She talked about them like they were real, and to her I guess they were. The bad guys were wicked and the women were hussies.

She has been gone almost 40 years. I still miss her.

I don't watch soaps. But, I do sometimes talk back to the television. Especially during football season. My DH and the mutts sometimes think that I have totally lost my mind.

That's OK. My husband yells at the Bruins games on TV all the time. He yells at the refs, like they can hear him.

I bet she watched Secret Storm too. I barely remember the final episode of it.

If I remember correctly.... The Edge of Night went to ABC when The Young and the Restless first started (or when it went to an hour?). Search for Tomorrow was cancelled when Capitol started. It was later cancelled and was replaced with The Bold and The Beautiful.

My grandmother still yells at them. She doesn't call them soaps, she calls them her "stories". "Gotta watch my stories this afternoon" Very cute. She always is yelling at them saying "She's a crook" "He's only after her money" "He's gonna cheat on her, I just know it." lol

I agree, waste of time!!!!!!!!!disneykid

I also watch Days of Our Lives (and Passions) and I scream at the TV all the time, mostly telling the person how stupid or annoying they are. :teeth:
