I recently went to see WOC at DL with my wheelchair. I don't think they have worked all the kinks out of the system yet. I was in the "blue" section, so I can only comment on that one. I was in the main line a little over an hour early, and thank goodness I was! After a while they pull the wheelchairs out into our own special section. People with GACs may also be allowed in that section, as I did see parties without wheelchairs there.
The wheelchair section is about the size of the WC area in front of the castle in Florida for parades. All along the front of the section, right up against the railings are BENCHES! There was not room for my tiny manual chair between them at all. Most people parked their ECVs at the rear of the section and went to sit on a bench but I am unable to sit on a park bench! I squeezed in along the rope (with the rear of my chair on the other side of the rope!) and had a trellis right in the center of my vision.
I cant sit in the "reserved dining" sections even if I did have a reservation because you get soaked! And BLUE is supposed to be the best section. I have no idea where they planned for wheelchairs to go, but a lot of us were very annoyed at not being able to sit in the front. I could not see over people sitting on the bench, and I am sure very few people would be able to.
I am not sure what to suggest as I am unable to see all the wheelchair sections from where I was, but be prepared.
The benches are NOT fixed to the ground, and next time I think I am going to just have my wife and a kind stranger move one back a bit.
Who puts benches blocking the whole wheelchair area??
