Thought I'd tell you all about my weekend!
We left here at 10am Friday morning to start the 235miles up to Knaresbourgh. We hit tons of traffic but with only a 10 minute stretch stop got there at 2.45pm. They had a problem with our room though as my step grandad hadn't booked us a family room so they did a bit of jiggling and they gave us a suite
We had our own bedroom and the girls had a sofa bed and camp bed in the lounge
We walked into Knaresbourgh for a wander round and bought some hot sausage rolls! When we returned to the hotel we went swimming and spent a nice hour in the jacuzzi and sauna. The rest of the family had then arrived and we spent some time just relaxing and chatting before having a lovely meal, the men then drunk till about 1am, guess who looked after the kids!!!!!!
We woke up had a big brekkie and the girls went swimming with my dad and step sisters whilst David and I went and explored (we never did make it to York like we wanted to, not enough time!) We went slightly off the main high street and look what we found!
We also found a house completely carved into a rock face, it is 4 storeys and was carved in about 1700!
We got back just in time to get changed for the wedding!
We got to the castle which was beautiful but OMG it was freezing and really windy so we didn't get any outside photos!!!! But here are a couple off of their website.
This one is the hill that the Grand Old Duke of York marched his men up! Unfortunately we weren't able to go up it and anyway it was way too cold!
The wedding was beautiful with the Bride walking down a huge staircase but as normal at weddings there was a huge amount of nothing time whilst photos were taken! Also there were far too many rules, couldn't sit here, couldn't go there, can't take drinks here etc etc it wasn't a relaxing environment also as all the photos were indoors the guests couldn't take photos!!!!! The Castle itself was freezing too, they had an enormous fire place but as we all fought over it the heat got blocked
There were also a few hot air blowers in the floor! The meal was nice and the evening do was great as they had a ceilidh so my feet still hurt!!!! Anyway here are a few photos of us all wrapped up
And a couple of silly ones!!!!
We left this morning at just gone 11am and with much better traffic got home by 2.45pm with no stop
Luckily the girls didn't need the toilet
