Hello Ladies:

I just thought I would post some helpful advice and recommendations after having my Intimate Wedding on 12/16/05.

Do make sure you get a non-smoking hotel room or your dress will smell like smoke.
Do arrive as early as possible to your resort before the wedding. I barely had time to eat before the wedding.

Do use Carolyn Allens for steaming and gown preservation after the wedding.
Carolyn Allens was on time and friendly. I even had a small hole in my dress (must have happened during transport) and she fixed it for me for free and you would have never known it was ever there.
For Gown Preservation....they pick it up directly from the resort and then ship it to your home after preservation. You get the dress, veil and any one other item for $189 shipped to your home.

Do use Beaute Speciale for your hair & makeup. They are not that expensive and Anna made all of us look beautiful and she is so nice. There are two of them that come out and as you know two opinions are better than one.

Do purchase an alter arrangement for your intimate wedding. It was $175 but huge and beautiful and it lasted the entire week.

Don't purchase the Ford Model A Vintage Car for $500. It was a beautiful car......but so small it was so difficult to get in and out of.
The Rolls Royce is larger.

Do make sure you tell your maid of honor and father of the bride where to stand and when to say what.

Do Get Minnie & Mickey added to your reception. They made beautiful and pictures and the reception would not have been the same without them.

Do wear your dress all over the place. You should see the smiles on the little girls faces.

Do not book OHANA's for your dinner afterwards. The food was delicious but were treated badly (Please read the previous post).

Do purchase the Disney Dining Membership if you can. It saved us over $100 off of our Dinner for 15 people at OHANA's.

Do use RANDY CHAPMAN for your photography. He made me feel like a model. He is such a sweetheart and takes all the time you want to take pictures. He is so creative with the poses. I know my pictures will turn out gorgeous.

Do sort of plan out your pictures so you don't waste time.

Do use STVS for video. He was so nice. I just wish he would answer his emails a little more. Haven't seen my video yet though.

DO NOT use DISNEY for Videography. I booked a honeymoon session instead of the standard Disney Videography Intimate Package........the guy was very nice but showed no creativity with poses or pictures. I am sure all of the pictures we took at Epcot will all the look the same now.

Do hold on to your wedding keepsakes for dear life and don't let the maid get her hands on them. (Read my previous post).

Do make plenty of dining reservations all over the parks or you will never get to eat where you want.

Finally, don't forget to purchase rose petals for the rose petal toss after the ceremony. I forgot mine and didn't remember until 3 hours before the ceremony. My wedding coordinator saved me.

If you have any other questions about my wedding and what I used. Please email me gabrielle0625@bellsouth.net.

Thanks ladies and I hope this helps.

Thanks for the thoughtful tips, I really appreciate them and will have to consider a few of them! :goodvibes

Thanks for your list of Do's and Don'ts I'll be sure to write it down so I know what to remember to do and what not to do to make my DFTW a lovely day.

These are great tips, the more, the better, keep 'em rollin'.
You can never have enough tips.

Thanks for posting these, I'm sure future brides will find them helpful.

Great tips!

I had a custom so i had a more formal reception but we did book Ohana's for the night after and had a fabulous time.

I do want to emphasize the booking dining. It is best to have something, cuz with the new dining plan, we couldn't get barely anything even days in advance. We wanted to go back to Ohana's one of the last nights of our honeymoon and couldn't get it. We tried for over a week to get a reservation for 2 anytime of the night 5 - 11pm and couldn't get anything. Even went to the podium our last night and told them it was the last night of our honeymoon and got nothing. Real bummer and by that time we couldn't get much else either. Luckily, we went over to DTD and walked over to Planet Hollywood and waited maybe 10 minutes for a table and we had a swell time.

Another DO, i would add is to get the pins at Guest Relations that say happy wishes with a Mickey Groom & Minnie Bride. AND WEAR THEM EVERYWHERE!! We didn't get these until about 1/2 way maybe and only wore them a few times but when we did we would get free drinks and stuff sometimes. So, we may have received even more if we wore them the whole time. Any guest relations has them so be sure to ask. These also help if you don't wanna wear the hats (which my hubby did not at all).

Take Care everyone!!

That was a great list of recommendations. Can't wait to hear more about your special day.

I have to say, we had our reception dinner @ O'hana and had NO problems. It was a blast!

i was planning on having my welcome dinner at Ohana's, a bit worried about this now?

I have been to Ohana's several times (granted not for my wedding) and have never had any problems. I have always had great experiences dining at Disney. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is really great too. Congrats and good luck!

I know I am so surprised that happened to us on our Wedding day....but that will not stop us from returning to have more delicious food.
Thanks
Gabrielle
