We had a wonderful trip to the World from 8/8-8/18. We ate at our old favorites as well as a couple of new places. We stayed off property for all of the trip at a vacation home, except for our last night at the BC. We ate at a few places on 192, so I'll include them, too. We obviously weren't on the dining plan.

We slept in and had a late breakfast at the Golden Corral on 192 at around 10:30 am- it was ok, but they were just getting ready to switch it over to lunch, so we only got 1 go around with the breakfast choices- we could have gotten lunch, but we were in the mood for breakfast. It was crowded, but manageable, and food was ok- nothing spectacular. Lots of people running around, kind of messy, but for a total bill of about $35 (for 5 people), who's complaining??

Chef Mickey's- This has been our first dinner, usually on the day we arrive, but this time we didn't arrive until 11:30 pm, so it saved for our first full day. I love the mashed potatoes here- it is one of the main reasons we go ;) . When we arrived at 4 (our ARD was for 5) they were doing contruction in the main area on the fourth floor- very noisy! We opted to take a trip around on the monorail- we asked to sit up front, and we got to! We asked the monorail attendant about the construction and he was annoyed by it as well, and said he hadn't been there (working) for a month, so it was new to him, too. He said it would end by 5 pm, and it did.
We checked in at 4:45 and were seated around 5:05. The buffet was the usual faire, salads and pasta salads, shrimp, stuffing, rolls. We loved the chipotle lime chicken, mashed potatoes, and carving meats. I know people can complain about the food here- but it is a fun atmosphere- but the Mickey raviolis were cold, surprising as the restaurant had just opened, but no big deal to me. The chicken nuggets/strips were what the kids ate. They also had pizza, mac and cheese, and corn. Desserts here are always good, and we ate a lot of them!! Since I hadn't been used to eating this much in one sitting lately, I left extremely stuffed, but happy. 8 out of 10.

Ate breakfast at home before heading out to Hollywood Studios.
We ate ate the counter service in by the HISTK playground (not sure what it's called) for a mid AM snack, as we were eating at Sci Fi at 1:30. We had hot dogs and pretzels. They were good.

We arrived early for our lunch, (1pm) but we were ready for a break. We had arrived at 8:15am for rope drop. We were seated within 10 minutes. Kids loved eating in the car, and we enjoyed the quiet as they watched the movies. We ordered onion rings and burgers. Kids had pizza and hot dog, each with fries. The kids got drinks with glow in the dark ice cubes. The burgers were very good. Waitress was nice, although our food took about 10-15 miuntes longer to come out that the 2 people directly in the seat behind us (in our same car) and we all ordered at the same time- no big deal though. Kids got sundaes for dessert. 9 out of 10

Dinner that night was at our vacation home, we ordered form an italian restaurant that delivered- don't remember the name, but I ordered a large calzone for myself and it was HUGE- I ate just under half of it- it fit in a large pizza box!!

Breakfast at home.

We had no ADR's, as we planned to eat around the world. Kids ate at McDonald's- no surprise there. We ate at CS in Mexico. It was good. We each (DH and myself) the combo platter. DS also got kid's quesadilla with chips and cheese sauce. 7.5 out of 10.

We also got school bread in Norway (A 10 as always) and cookies and something else I don't remember.

We also ate in Japan, and had teriyaki chicken and rice at the CS place. Yummy. 8 out of 10

Not sure what we did for dinner that night- but it was off site.

This was our day of rest in the AM, as we were going to MK at 3, and had ADR for DRT dinner at 7. We ate breakfast at home, and luch at Cici's pizza buffet at 11 ish. Again, it was good, kind of likend it to Chuck E Cheese pizza, but I could tell some of the pizza was definitely left out for a while. Lots of different choices, from pepperoni, to ham and bacon, to BBQ beef to chicken and alfredo sauce with mushroons, to a pizza with macaroni and cheese on it. There were also salads and pasta with alfredo sauce or spaghetti sauce, and garlic bread. They had brownies, apple strudle type pizza, and cinnamon type rolls for dessert. It was 6 bucks or so per person, but drink was extra, but refillable. Good for what it was, but we were there mainly for DS #1 who lives on pizza and chicken nuggets. 7 out of 10

Arrived at MK at 3, just as the parade was finishing. I knew that it was crazy to make an ADR on an EMH morning day, and arrive late, but we knew what to expect. As we made our way down Main St, we decided to go to Fantasyland, with the hopes lots of people left after the parade- we were wrong. We waited for 30 minutes for IASW, then wen to Columbia Harbor House for provisions- I know we had an ADR for 7, but knew the kids weren't going to wait that long for dinner. We got 1 chicken and fries basket and 1 fish and fries basket. We share among the 4 of us. 8 out of 10.

Arrived for out CRT reservation at 6:50, taken into castle for photo with Cinderella. Met a CM from our town here in CT, who also worked at same hospital DH just left after 10 years!! It really is a small world. We got swords for our boys, then DH asked for a sword for himself, and was given one, so I asked for a wand- they say they give them to adults, but only if they ask ;) . We were taken to our table after 10 minutes or so. DH and I both got prime rib, I got salad he got soup- I think it was some kind of corn and crab chowder thing...and chocolate buckle dessert. DS's got soup, chicken nuggets and a hot dog, and sundae. The mice came out, as well as the fairy godmother, and did a little 'show'. It was cute. Our food was good and dessert was excellent. Waiter was good, but a tiny bit slow- but didn't dampen the evening. I probably would have been disappointed in the overall experience, as it is EXPENSIVE, but since I knew I had already paid for it months ago, so it didn't SEEM so expensive- I hope you understand my point. We had eaten in teh castle for lunch several years ago, and propbably won't be back again for a while. I think everyone should eat in the castle once, but we won't be back. 7.5 out of 10

Breakfast at home, back to the MK

This was the day we ate lunch with THE ROCK!!! I have pictures of him on another post on the restaurant board. We had ARD's at the Crystal Palace for 1 pm, but checked in at 12:30 to see if we could get in earlier. WE were seated at around 12:55. Now big deal, we had a bench on the porch area and opend a toy for the kids to play with. Buffet was good, I can't really remember any stand outs- they did have mashed potatoes :lovestruc and salads, breads, carving meats, but other than that, I can't really remember. The dessert buffet was as usual very good- I attribute my poor reccollection of teh food due to the fact THE ROCK (aka Dywane Johnson) was sitting right behind us. 10 out of 10 for eye candy , 8 out of 10 for food. **Oh yeah- as far as characters go, only Pooh made it to our table- we were too caught up with sitting by a celebrity to care, though, but we were at the restaurant a good 45 minutes (maybe longer) and no other characters were in sight.

We went home after lunch, rested, and went to Epcot for the evening. We parked at the Boardwalk- We ate at Japan again, and on our way back out of the Boardwalk, got a slice of pizza for DS and corn dogs for us, DS #2 had snack from home.

This was a day out of the parks. We had an ADR for Boma for breakfast- it was WONDERFUL!!!! It was for 10:30, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The ham from the carving station was amazing. They had eggs, eggs with cheese, sausage, bacon, potatoes (cut up potato wedges with spices) croissants, cornbread, pastries, cold cereal, waffles, and a couple of more ethnic dishes. This was my favorite meal, but could have been better if waitress was better. Our pressed pot of coffee took at least 15 minutes, as well as the milk for DS's fruit loops. I definitely ate A LOT here. It also rained this day- good for us since we weren't in a hurry to do anything. 10 out of 10

We ate at the Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner. Our ADR was for 5:45, but arrived around 5, so we looked around the resort. We checked in at 5:10. and were seated by 5:20. Our waitress was from CT and I told her we were, too, but she was VERY boring. I know fun CM's are hit or miss, but I thought the fact we could talk about being from the same state would open up a talking point- it didn't. It didn't put me off, though- there were other CM's around us that were fun, so we still had fun. DH and I ordered the skillet- it was very good. BBQ sauce was nice and spicy, and potatoes and corn were good. DH ate the ribs, as I don't gnaw the bone in public ;). Kids just had fries, as that was the only thing on the menu they liked- they also had the milkshakes, but DS #1 said they tasted like pudding:confused: - which they did! For dessert I got the apple pie- it was SOOOO good. DH had chocolate kaluha cake... it was ok he said- he wished he had the pie, though.

both of these restaurants (although we had been to Boma for dinner twice before) were new for us- they were both very good!! :woohoo:
*************************

We went to Animal Kingdom today- we ate breakfast at home again.

We had a 2 pm ADR at Yak and Yeti, but cancelled it as we wern't going to bestaying that long. We ate at the Yak and Yeti CS. I got a cheeseburger, and my mom (who came up from Ft Myers) had the Honey Chicken. DH had fried rice and the kids just ate snacks we had brought with us. It was OK- my mom said the Honey chicken was a little bland. I took a bite of the fried rice, and it was good. The burger was OK- I ordered it with fries, and the fries were very thin shoestring type potatoes with a seasoning on it- they didn't taste that great. 7.5 out of 10

Rest of the day was off site eating.

***************************

We went to Epcot today, and left the vacation house for a night at BC. We ate at the Land after riding Soarin'. We had the adult breakfast platter (eggs, potatoes, sausage) and a cinnamon roll. It was good.

We ate another school bread- yummy

We decided to leave at 1pm to check in at BC, but then decided to eat first, at the Electric Umbrella. It was very busy, but we did find a table on teh 1st level. DH and I had cheeseburgers, and the kids had chicken nuggets and fries. Standard faire, would have rather made it to China to eat, but kids were getting cranky.

After a smooth check in at BC, we swam for a while, then dropped the kids off at the Sandcastle Club. DH and I went to Epcot, and had originally planned to eat at Tokyo Dining, but decided we would rather spend our time shopping than eating. We got fish and chips from UK and Teriyaki from Japan. We also got a chocolate crepe from France, popcorn from USA, and were going to go to the pastry shop in France but it was too crowded- we had been there earlier in the week and gotten yummy pastries, though. We left the kids from 6-9, so we went back just before Illuminations, and DS#1 and DH got ice cream from Beaches and Cream while I put DS#2 to sleep. The ice cream was good, but I wanted a No Way Jose, but they don't make it for carry out, so I just had a sundae.

We had an 8:45 ADR for Cape May today. It was kind of a sad way to end our trip- not the food, but this happened to be our last meal before our flight home on our previos trip, which was also the day after hurricane Charlie had swept through. We were staying on more night, but at a hotel close to the airport, as our flight was leaving at 7:30 am. The food was OK- DH didn't find as much to eat here as he did at Boma, but it was good. Characters were fun, but I do know we all were sad to be leaving, and DS#2 (5 yr old) was ready to go home 2 days prior...DS loved the Mickey waffles, and pastry selection was good- not as good as Boma, though. 8 out of 10.

We headed for Hollywood Sudios after we swam and had late check out (12 pm). We had to see Indy Show, as we had missed it the prior vacation, and didn't do it on our first day this trip. We got our fast pass for the 1:45 show, then I decided to make a 2:30 ADR at Prime Time. This by far was the worst meal we had. Drinks (just soft drinks) took at least 15 minutes, then food another 25. I had meatloaf, which was barely warm. DH had pot pie, which I guess was good- didn't really ask him....kids had chicken nuggets and hot dogs....The waitress was crabby- we told her this was our 14th trip, said we loved coming here, and her response was , 'Don't ever work here!' I also noticed a supervisor was asking her to go home, I am assuming because it wasn't crowded, and she gave him an attitude- all right in front of us and the other customers!! We never have had good luck at Prime Time- we had been there 2 other times.

Hope this was helpful!

Sounds good so far. Did you hit Le Cellier at the Canada pavilion? One of our favs....but is hard to get an ADR for.

No- we didn't get to Le Cellier this time, we have been there before...of course this is supposed to be our last trip for a while (yeah right:laughing: ) but DH said that on the 6th trip or so.....so we'll be sure to get to places we haven't been to in a while soon!! :teeth:
