we tried the meal plan on 8/6. It was a waste of money. We started to eat at 11 a.m. at IOA when the restaurants opened. Then the lines became horrendous. The counter service people are very, very slow. We then went over to universal (where we could not eat because we only purchased the meal at IOA). We then walked back to IOA to eat at circus. Went back to our room at RPH and then forced ourselves to go back to IOA to get dinner before they closed at 8:30 p.m. It was just too much walking and we normally would have eaten only two meals at the most but forced ourselves to eat three. I wish I had not purchased it. Also keep in mind since the park is now closing early, the restaurants close 30 minutes before park closes and opens at 11 a.m. Hope this helps.

We purchased the meal plan on 8-6 & 8-8. We were very pleased with it. We bought the 2 park meal deal so we could park hop without worries. We also bought the sipper cups. Not sure if the cups were worth it or not. The meal deal we were pleased with. There are select places but you get to order any main entree. At IOA the only place that was not a hassle to eat at was Circus ( not sure of entire name) in Suess Landing. The other locations were a nightmare. US was great. You go thru the same line as anyone would to order their food. International Food Festival had the most choices. Fruit plate, Chinese food, Pizzas, Fried Chicken, Salads. Monster Cafe has Rotiserrie Chicken. I liked not having to pull out money each time to eat. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the info.

sorry it didn't work out. It is a lot of walking back and forth there.

DD and I usually share meals (like chix/ribs platter), so I think we'll skip meals plan.

We've also 4 coupolns for Hard Rock meals. Wonder if we can run over there for lunch, or if it would be a hassle.

herc.

Our family didn't care for the meal plan. It's about 20 or more dollars per person. The meals are only about 6-8 dollars, so you have to eat more than 2 meals to get your money out of it. I didn't see anywhere for breakfast. How much fast food can a person eat? On our 2nd day, we decided that we weren't going to eat that many meals there. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza for $16 at Louis (sp?) in Universal by Beetle Juice. The pizza was great. FYI, The Disney plan is well worth the money.

Just wanted to say I agree with you about the slow service. It is the worst I have ever experienced, anywhere.

No hassle at all, it's right between the two parks, a two-minute walk from either gate.

Yes, it is slow. Make sure you have planned to wait 30 to 40 minutes in line.
If it rains then it`s a different story! Well, it was better wait time for me!

I agree we won't do it again. Very SLOW service, we joked the staff all acted like they hated us, not us personally, just us b/c we were there. (At least at WDW they keep their contempt to themselves better) They were also out of most everything at dinner time.. That said I still love US/IOA and will be going back in Nov. just no meal plan for us!

I had considered purchasing the meal plan but there was nothing on it that my GF child could eat. However, I was very glad that we didn't purchase it when we got in line to eat and after waiting 30 minutes were not even 1/2 way through it. It would have been a huge waste of money for us because I would not have waited in the lines. We were not impressed with the counter service rest.s at all. We ate at one place that served chicken and ribs and for 3 adults + 2 kids it cost of $68. Only one of the adults got a drink with this! We paid on $55+ tip at the Hard Rock and had a great meal and soda!

I agree. It really doesn't seem like a very good deal.

If you are a family of 4 ( 2 parents, 2 children under 9) it costs you $60 plus $8 each for a refill cup. Thats $92 !!!!!!!!! For only two meals!!!!!!!!! That you don't get to choose exactly what you want ( who REALLY likes parfait :confused3 ?!?!?!)!!!!!!!!

We would have fruit bars etc. in our room for breakfast then either have a snack for lunch (popcorn popcorn:: , pretzels, ice cream)and a fast food meal at dinner or the other way around.

We did buy 2 refill cups to share. The most we probably spent for food ( we had two extra kids for a total of 6 people) including refill sodas was $60-70 and thats for 6 people.

Granted we aren't big eaters but I wouldn't consider the Meal Deal a deal at all unless you tend to eat ALOT!
