My very delayed New Years trip Report!-6/23 Finally UPDATED!

ok i am caught up - i really liked it till... we got to the part about the Boston Red Sox - BOOOO!!!! :rotfl2: - GO CLEVELAND INDIANS - disney is our first love - the indians are are second - can't wait to read more!!!

:lmao: Well at least you didn't say you are a Yankees fan! I hope you'll keep reading despite our baseball rivalry :rotfl:

Great so far!! So jealous of the BWV! You all look like you are having so much fun. Birthdays are great at WDW. I've been for my birthday three times and had a blast. Looking forward to more.

I'm jealous, I want to go on my birthday. Actually, we left two days after mine (December 29th) but we never go that week because we aren't brave enough to fight the Christmas crowds. This year we're going again on Jan. 1st, but I hope one of these days I can make it on my birthday!

Thanks for reading :goodvibes

Ok MORE similatities. Mom=Sheila (the same as my mom) and not such a wierd similarity we did CP for Breakfast as well! Doing the Illuminations Cruise must have nice even though you were so cold! The cake is nice, if we do end up going in Sept. It will be my dad's Birthday and Kimberly (my dad's friend's 10yr old daughter's Birthday). SO I am thinking of ordering a cake (assuming all goes as planned) for one of out TS meals.
Upgrade=Great!
Thanks for the update!

fab job, hope u accept my kudos to u, seeing IM A YANKEE FAN an all......:cool1: :rotfl:

That is too weird! Sheila is not a very common name either. The cake was soooo good! And those sprinkles are Mickeys :) I def recommend ordering one from the Disney bakeries while you're there if you can.

Yea i still onboard!! despite our rivalry!!!:lmao: :lmao: The cruise looked awesome - one of trips i am going to have to add this on!!:wizard: You are making me so hungry reading about your meals - we ate a Prime Time last year and had cousin Mark - he was all over my hubby about eating his veggies (which hubby hates) - i was litteraly eating them off of his plate everytime cousin Mark would have his back to us!! Yummm on the smores dessert!!! :cheer2: princess: :yay: pixiedust: :charac4: ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :mickeyjum (my kids wanted all these on here - lol) can't wait for more!!

Ok, I'm all caught up!

The beginning of your trip sounded like the beginning of mine. Grrr to snow!

Congrats to DBF on the job. I hope he's liking it so far.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who skips when they are really excited. I skipped around Las Vegas my first day there and my DBF still laughs at me for it to this day!

:rotfl: another grown up who skips!

Yay thanks for reading! DBF says thanks for the congrats, and he loves his job! He got very lucky to be doing what he actually went to school for right after college haha. But I got that lucky too so I can't complain.

Snow freaks me out. I remember reading about your experience with it in your TR and I totally felt for you...so scary when all you want is to make it to Disney!

Day 3 was bright and sunny, but chilly again. The high was only supposed to be in the 50s again, but we left snow so this was fine with us!

We got up around 6 because we had 830am ADRs at CP. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants. I loooove breakfast and that is the best place for it IMO. We showered and dressed in record time for 8 people and headed for the bus. The stop was pretty close to our room which was nice, but it was mobbed that morning with pushy people who were making me very mad! But we crammed our way onto an MK bus in about 15 minutes, so not bad. This was my first trip with the music and the little voiceover playing on the bus. I think the music from IASW was playing that day.
We took this while we waited for the bus:
170481Disney_08_075.jpg

We make it into MK for rope drop and I am shaking with excitement. DBF is cracking up, but I can’t help it, MK is the epitome of Disney for me. We walked nice and slow down Main Street and soaked up that first view of the castle. The tree was still up and the Christmas music was still playing so I was ecstatic. We headed to CP after taking some pictures in front of the castle while mom checked in:
n9008981_35385157_2842.jpg

We waited about 10 minutes before they called us in. I love the characters at this one, and between the puffed French toast, breakfast pizza, and potato casserole I was in heaven. Everyone loved it. DBF got so excited about Eeyore and Tigger. Who would have thought? DBil even joined in the parade that is meant for little kids…he was waltzing around the restaurant behind the characters and a bunch of preschoolers, swirling his napkin. It was hilarious, I wish we’d caught it on tape but Dad was outside taking pictures with the camera at the time (he is a photographer for a living, so he often wonders off to do this) so he missed it! Oh well.

After stuffing ourselves, we headed over the bridge to Adventureland. The first thing we did was POC so DBF could see the changes, and its mom’s favorite. The crowds were still a bit high, so we waited for about 20 minutes, but nothing horrible. Then we headed to frontierland, our favorite area of the park. What do we see as we come around the corner by Pecos Bill’s? Splash Mountain is up and running! We had been so upset when we heard it was closing on New Years for a refurb, so seeing it open was an awesome surprise. It was freezing out, but we made a beeline for the ride. It is a family favorite and highlight of all trips. Plus, with the cold temperatures we were the only ones brave enough to ride! We got to go twice with no lines. DBF and my brother sat in the front row and were freezing but happy after being drenched.
Here's what happens if you sit up front!
170481Disney_08_087.jpg

The Sox hat went on in an attempt to save my hair from Splash!
n9008981_35409469_6203.jpg

After that we hit up BTMRR to dry off and got fastpasses to go again later. Then it was time for HM to see those updates. Another nice and short line, and the renovations were so cool! Then we headed to Tomorrowland. At this point we were hungry for snacks so we tried the cream cheese pretzels at Launching Pad. So delicious! I was in love. We went back for more later in the week. The line was long for Space Mountain so we got fast passes and road the TTA which we all love. So relaxing, and it’s the only way mom can ever see the inside of Space! We rode Buzz after that, and the Mad Tea Party (I tried very hard not to spin DBF too much, he gets so dizzy!). I had to subject him to IASW after that because he’d never been. Of course I sang along! We decided to do Philharmagic after that, and DBF bought a Crabby but Loveable T-shirt with Donald on it. Next, it was time for our Space fast passes. On the way out we stopped at the arcade because it is family tradition to play eachother in air hockey. Oh man, like I said before we are very competitive.

At this point it was mid afternoon. We had done so much and were very tired, so we decided to head back to the resort and take naps/go in the hot tub at the resort. The Luna Pool at BW was going down for renovation towards the end of our trip, so we wanted to get plenty of use out of it before that happened. After this nice rest we changed and headed to Epcot for EMH. We stopped to take some pics along the way.

170481Disney_08_099.jpg

By the time we walked over, we were starving so we headed to the Cantina de San Angel for some fake Mexican food (I know its not authentic but I love me some Plato Combinacion…Oh and the churros! So amazing.) We did the Gran Fiesta Tour because I love it even though its so cheesy, DBF loves Donald, and hey it never has a line! We tried to ride TT after this but the line was still 90 minutes, so we decided to check out the Seas with Nemo and Friends since we hadn’t done this since the change over. So cute! I loved this ride. DBF and I love the movie and I think the renovation really brought that pavilion back to life.
The real Nemo!
n9008981_35385171_7736.jpg

We headed towards the front of the park. Club Cool was closed, so no Beverly for the newbies (DBF, DBil, and DSil) so we checked to see if SE was doing any soft openings. And sure enough, they were letting people in! I love this ride so I was way excited. The line was 15 minutes, the longest I’ve ever seen it but short for the week we went. I liked the changes…minus Judi Dench. She did ok but I liked the old narrator, Jeremy Irons is just so mysterious sounding. Oh wow I am such a dork….
n9008981_35409470_6484.jpg

Anyways, this sneak peek made my night and we were all exhausted so we headed back to BWV.

Going off topic, can I say how much I loved our Villa? We had the two bedroom, which was huge, with a patio area off of all three rooms. That morning we’d had groceries delivered (cereal, bread, juice, donuts, etc.) so we ate breakfast there almost every morning, which saved a lot of money and was a great way to start the day. DBF and I sat in the lounge chairs outside our room and watched the boats to MGM go by every morning while we drank coffee. I miss it dearly! Just across from our door was the Luna Park pool area so we had a great location. :lovestruc

In my next installment: More fun at Epcot, plus dinner with some interesting men in Lederhosen!!

Glad you enjoyed CP! I did too (except the part where I bit my fork and chipped my tooth).
Your lucky you got ride Splash, later on when we were there it was completly dried up, interesting to see though. (Gives me an excuse to take DBF back)
I actually really enjoyed what we got to see of SSE's soft opening. It was nice.
YAY for the update!

Oh no chipping your tooth that stinks! Seeing Splash dried up later in the week was very weird, we were so glad we made it on!

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying your TR! It sounds like an amazing trip so far.
Thanks so much for reading! I hope to have more up tomorrow!

I'm back! Let's see, the next day was our first full one at Epcot. I've really grown to love this park over the years. When I was a kid I thought it was sooo boring but now its probably my second favorite, behind MK.

We slept in a bit that morning, I think til 9 or so because we were all so wiped from the busy days we'd been having. We ate breakfast and took the pretty walk to Epcot. First we wandered around the UK. I wanted to show DBF the stores and the hedge maze...all the little things that make Disney so special but you miss if you'd only been with your high school band trip, like he had. Did I mention what dorks we are?
n9008981_35385162_4564.jpg

While we were wandering, my brother made a run for Soarin' to get FPs. We met him over at TT, which was at a 90 minute wait so we said heck no and decided to check out Mission Space. That had only about a 20 min wait, but it kept breaking down (scary, i know) so it made it about a 30 min wait. I was the only girl brave enough to do the intense side. The other girls and my parents did the "chicken" side as I call it hee hee. After that we did Ellen's Energy Adventure, which always cracks me up. DBF loves Bill Nye, so he throughly enjoyed this one.

After that we decided to do the whole look of WS. It was nice because the weather was gorgeous, it had finally made it to the 70s and we took our time enjoying the weather and the countries. Mexico is my favorite, so we took our time in there and of course did El Rio del Tiempo again. Even mom rode this time, and she HATEs that one haha. Here are some pics from the pavilion:
n9008981_35385163_4902.jpg

n9008981_35409472_7037.jpg

We road Maelstrom and poked around that pavilion for awhile too because we are Norwegian so its nice to see the "homeland" as dad calls it. Then we spent awhile in Germany and Italy. There was a street performer in Italy doing all kinds of funny mime type tricks who entertained us for awhile. We took lots of pictures around the lagoon, too. Notice DBF's crabby but loveable shirt in all of them!

n9008981_35385167_6304.jpg

Dopey was hanging out by Germany. We just missed Snow White.
n9008981_35385166_5941.jpg

We stopped for lunch at the American Pavilion. Everyone got the cheesburger I think, and the strawberry shortcake for dessert which was very yummy. This is the giant gingerbread house inside there that I love:
n9008981_35385168_6656.jpg

I made everyone sit through the movie in France (I won't even attempt to spell the name of that one!) even though I'm the only one who likes it. I think its a nice rest for the feet at least. I love the music and it is a very pretty video, even if it's a little old. DBF and I wanted to do the Canada one too but I got overruled. Oh well, we did get to see the pretty but fake Niagra falls. Very nice, but not as impressive since we went to the real one last summer!
n9008981_35385170_7358.jpg

We headed back to finish up future world. We did the entire Imagination Pavilion. I love Figment so we had to do the ride! And HISTA is still funny no matter how old that gets. After playing in the Image Works for a few minutes,we headed over to the Land pavilion. There was still time before our FPs for Soarin', so we rode Living with the Land which had zero wait. Everyone really liked it a lot, which surprised me. The guys usually love the thrill rides, but they all thought this was very cool. However, they sat all 8 of us in the front two rows, then didn't load the rest of the boat! Let's just say the boat was very front heavy and we spent the whole trip tipped forward. We all got a good laugh out of that one!! :rotfl: I wish I had a picture of the Mickey pumpkins that were growing, but they are on DBFs camera.

After that, our FPs were finally up and it was time to show DBF what all the raving was about. We got front row, and he loved it! He thought it was so cool and especially loved flying over the orange groves. Ahh I wish I was back there right now...:cloud9:

We "land", and realize that our 6pm ADR for Biergarten in Germany is in exactly 3 minutes and we are at the opposite end of the park. So our veteran runner, my brother, takes off to go check us in and we all hustle behind him, praying that we don't miss our seating. We get there and the line is huge, so no one was checking in on time, but we only had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. I must say, I love the food here and I never thought I would. I hadn't been since I was young enough to eat off the kid's menu, and it did not disappointing. The pretzel bread was amazing and so was the potato and leek soup. Dessert was so good too, I loved the cheesecake. Here is DBF and I with the beer he had been longing for all trip haha:
n9008981_35385172_8079.jpg

After we were sufficiently stuffed, we checked the line for TT again but it was still so long and FPs were out. We decided to try Club Cool, which was also closed again (grrr, we never did make it there this trip) but we did stumble upon the 25th Anniversary display about Epcot, and that was very cool to see. We poked around there for a few, and went outside to watch the fountain for awhile. My dad loves that thing so we relaxed there for awhile.

Before we knew it, it was closing time. We walked back out toward International Gateway, and our timing was perfect because a boat happened to be there, just about to leave for BW. We hopped on and our feet enjoyed a quick rest. It was only 930 so we decided to check out the Boardwalk for awhile. Dad, DBF, and I went to the bar at Big River Grill and Brewing Works. The boys didn't care much for their beer, but I got the best Margarita. After a few drinks, dad headed back to hang out with mom by the hot tub and DBF and I wandered the BW some more. We played a couple of midway games with no luck, but it was very fun. The CMs were very funny and you felt like you were at an old fashioned carnival. We split a piece of pizza from the window and sat by the water and talked and just enjoyed some alone time. It was very romantic. One side note: I don't recommend wearing flip-flops on the Boardwalk after it has rained or they have hosed it down! I almost fell three times because it was so slippery! DBF and I were cracking up, he kept saying the drinks went to my head, but those boards were just so slippery! :rotfl2:

After me embarrassing myself, we decided to head to the hot tub because it was still so warm. I love hot tubs, so we relaxed there for awhile and then decided to call it a night. I fell asleep very happy after our amazing day!

Coming up next...Day 5 at Animal Kingdom! :)

Very cute pictures from Epcot!

I agree...wet surfaces + flip flops = me almost falling!

The next day was AK day. I was really excited for this. I think I love that park more than any one else in our family. I just love the atmosphere and the decorations. There is so much detail, I like that there are fewer attractions because you can take your time.

We slept in that day and got to AK around 10. My brother, the designated FP runner, sprinted to Everest and surprisingly the passes were good for noon. While he got them, we got into the KS line, and were about half way through when he caught up to us. There had been steady crowds that whole week, but surprisingly the line was still only 40 min. so we waited. Our safari guide wasn’t great, but DBil and DSil had never been on this one so they enjoyed it. The storyline with Big Red and Little Red also cracks me up, mom and I were reciting it. DBF took about a thousand pictures of the animals.

170481Disney_08_210.jpg

After that, I insisted we do the Pangani Forest Trail to see the meerkats and gorillas. We spent a good 45 minutes on that trail. DBF spent most of this time on the phone with his new company, talking business already! The gorillas were very active and entertaining that day. The big male gorilla decided to come over and pee right in front of a huge group of us. But some idiot had dropped a napkin into his area, and he proceeded to eat it. This made me upset. Seriously, who litters in an area where a poor animal is living?

Next it was time for our FP so we rode EE. I love this coaster, and I think DBF enjoyed it even more, it was his first time. Mom even decided to join us. The views are great and the theming on this one is fantastic IMO. We tried to buy the picture but the line was too long. Next time I’m taking a redneck shot of it like I’ve seen in so many other TRs! Here is my fooling around in the gift shop. Bet you’ve never seen a Yeti with a bright pink manicure before!!

170481Disney_08_253.jpg

At that point we were starving so we headed over to DinoLand to get some CS at Restaurantosaurus. I got the hot dog (of course, I think I ate 4 this trip) and everyone else went for the burger. They had some sort of brownie thing for dessert I think that was very good. Now that we had some energy, we hopped in line for Dinosaur. The line was about 35 minutes, but this gave us time to digest. I love this one too, the Carnotaurus always makes me scream from surprise no matter how many times I go on it.

Primeval Whirl was next. Again, another favorite! DBF had to request we didn’t ride with anyone else because there is no way we can squeeze into those little cars with our long legs. He is 6’5” and I’m 5’11”. He gets dizzy spinning but he did ok on this one. We walked back toward EE so we could do the MJT. We stopped to get pictures with EE in the backround, when dad discovered he had lost his camera! We were all posed and everything, and he reached into his pocket to take the pictures, and it was gone! Here is camera disaster number one. We all kinda freaked out, because he had the majority of the pictures as our designated trip photographer. He ran back to PW with my brother, and thank god someone had found it in his ride seat and turned it in. Phew! It turned out to not be quite the disaster it could have been. That could have been bad. Happy and relieved, we took a few great pictures and kept on our way. The bats are always cool on this walking trail, and the tigers were very playful so we stopped to watch them play awhile and take pictures.

As we were walking back towards the Tree of Life, we saw that ITTBAB had a five minute wait. We decided to grab a snack on the way in, because our dinner ADRs at Boma were two hours away. I got frozen lemonade and everyone else wanted pretzels (sadly without cream cheese but I guess all pretzels cannot be so fancy). We ate and took our time wandering the line for the show, taking in the TOL. People were lining up just outside the doors to the theater, so we sat on some “roots” to finish our snack. Well my clumsy sister drops her camera, and it falls into a pool of water that is collecting at the base of the tree, between two animal carvings! Ugh oh, cue the disaster music again, this is camera problem number two of the day for those of you keeping track at home. She leaned over and reached her entire arm into this nasty, stagnant water and couldn’t find it. So DBil reaches and manages to save the camera, but now that its been drowning, its useless. However, her memory card managed to work so her pictures were saved! At least there was a semi-happy ending, and my family learned an important lesson about keeping their cameras in a secure place.

n9008981_35409473_7318.jpg

Moving on, we watched ITTBAB, which I love, and then decided to do a little shopping. We browsed for awhile. I ended up getting an outfit for my three year old cousin and some other souvenirs for people back home. It was about 4:30 at this point. We decided to head of to AKL and look around and relax until our 6pm ADR at Boma.

I love AKL, I want to stay there so badly but I’m the only one because its so far off from everything else. But DBF and I are talking about doing a Disneymoon in a couple years (I want to finish grad school before we get married) and I’m pretty sure I can talk him into it. He loved the lobby. It was raining and sunny at the same time, and he got this great picture of a rainbow from the lobby window while we were exploring:

170481Disney_08_276.jpg

We checked in at Bomas, stopped at the gift shop, then found some comfy chairs around the fire and waited for our buzzer to go off. Everyone but mom and I fell asleep while we waited! I guess they all needed naps. After about 15 minutes, though, we had to wake them up because we were being seated. We do Boma almost every trip because Dad loves the unique food but they also have normal stuff for mom and I. I loved their chicken teriyaki soup, I had two bowls of it with the yummy corn bread. They had this fabulous flourless chocolate cake for dessert that I loved as well. I’m trying to find the recipe so I can make it at home, it was so good.

After a relaxing dinner, we were torn on what to do next. DBF and I wanted to do Osbourne Lights because it was the last night of them, and my brother and sister wanted to do mini-golf over at Fantasia Gardens with their significant others. So we parted ways, mom and dad came with DBF and I because they love the lights too. We made it to DHS (the name had changed now!) quickly on a mostly empty bus and headed for the lights. Some of them were out and they weren’t dancing due to the rain, but they were still breathtaking. DBF fell in love, it was his first time seeing them and he took a million pictures. I sang along to the Christmas music; it was so fun for me because Christmas is my absolute favorite and I got to relieve it a week later on this trip! We enjoyed the lights for about 40 minutes, then decided to check out the RR line since we still hadn’t made it on. The line was still huge so we decided to shop in the stores on the way out. We got candy apples and rice crispy treats with snack credits at the candy store, and dad bought DBF a very nice Disney dress shirt and matching tie as a graduation gift/congratulations for his new job. DBF and I each picked out a picture frame as well so we had something special to put our trip photos in when we got home. I picked out this cute blue one that has the lyrics to “A Whole New World” written around it. Its on my desk now with a picture of me and DBF in front of the castle.

After shopping we walked back to BW. We decided to get changed and go over to the quiet pool now that Luna Park was closed (at least DBF did have one chance at going down the fun roller coaster slide!). This area was very nice and peaceful, we soaked in the hot tub and DBF and my brother had an air hockey rematch inside the community center. All in all it was a great day, and I went to bed very happy that night!

Up next: More DHS and a couples’ night!

For some reason the quoting isn't working for me very well right now...

I have taken many a redneck photo of ride pictures. Some turn out better than others, but it's kind of fun to try to get them!

I love the Yeti hat on you!

You probably don't still have the camera...but if it ever happens again, someone once suggested to my mom when it happened to her to put the camera in a ziploc bag and let it sit in the sun. I guess it evaporates all the water out of the camera. Her camera did live to see another day!

I would love to see Osbourne Lights one day! Any pictures of the frame? It sounds very nice!

GO BO! I lived in RI while I went to PC and became a Bo fan! :thumbsup2 I am likin' your TR!

Thanks for reading! It's nice to hear from another fan :goodvibes I hope to have up another installment soon!
