And I really really want an iPhone :cool1::cool1::cool1:

What should my first step be? Obviously, I want to keep my phone number. Will the Apple store contact Verizon for me? What if my wireless plan is bundled with my FIOS stuff? I think it is but I'm not 100 percent sure. I know I should probably call them myself but I just don't want to -- I know they will throw all kinds of stuff at me to stay and I just don't want to deal with that (I kinda feel bad about leaving them, but the iPhone has me under its spell). Any advice would be appreciated!! TIA!

Wait until the IPhone comes to Verizon...

waaaaaaah!

This will take too long. Even if it comes to pass that it is available Q1 next year, the lines will be out the door, I won't be able to get my hands on one until the summer. The phone I am using now is like the sorriest thing in the whole world, it won't last!!

If you are otherwise happy with Verizon's service, I would wait it out. Is it really that important to have the newest gadget and potentially poor service? :confused3

You can keep your number and get an Iphone now; you just have to change service providers.

You can't do all three right now: keep your number, keep Verizon, and get an Iphone.

AT&T was just ranked last in cellular companies by Consumer Reports. I'd wait.

Well since At&T is the carrier, I would start there. I know they have a way when you get set up with them to transfer your number over.

Enjoy you IPhone..I am jealous!

Mine expires Jan 1st! I want the iPhone also but am thinking i may check out the Droids. DH has the regular Droid and it is pretty cool. He has a ton of apps and all so it is pretty much like the iPhone.

My current BB is giving me major headaches. This is the 4th BB in 2 years. The first one though, our puppy ate! The next 2 would lock up all the time. This last one locks up and the track ball sticks. I am ready to pull my hair out now.

I was all excited thinking the iPhone would be released in Jan but it is looking like mid summer now.

I really do like verizon and DH is on verizon. It seems like a pain to switch. Does AT&T offer the new every 2?

I just did this 3 weeks ago!

I did it over the internet, but I went through the forms online, they mailed me the phone, I plugged it into my computer and voila, no more Verizon.

It was sooo easy!

And another report that came out from the Better Business Bureau yesterday rated them A+ (they had the lowest number of complaints amongst all the cellular companies).

I finally got the iphone a month ago and LOVE it!!! Call me a iSheep if you will but the resolution on the phone is beautiful. I had a HTC for years (was rated #1 two years ago by business magazine) but the iphone is night and day compared to that.

Good luck in your decision.

That is exactly what I thought about when I saw this thread. I would seriously wait as well. I know they have really poor service in our area and we aren't a small town by anymeans. I got an iPod touch instead and I am much happier, I don't have phone service, but I do have access to almost all of the same apps.

I have great service with T-mobile and unless and until they get the iPhone, I would not switch. there are plenty of droid phones that are better than the iPhone.

My best friend has AT&T and she has the sorriest cell service I've ever seen. Her hubby and son wanted iPhones . . .

Cellular service quality is very much affected by the area you live in . Some might have issues, some may not. This happens for all carriers. If you want your Iphone and you know AT&T has decent service in your are, go for it. Contacting AT&T would be your first step.

Perhaps, but if you travel at all, AT&T service is garbage (IMO). It has the worst coverage in the US by a significant margin.

I want an iPhone, but I will wait for service that makes the iPhone worth owning. :thumbsup2

I agree with you. For travelling, Verizon is much better, but if you dont travel much and AT&T is decent in your area... go for it!

I say go for it! I switched from verizon last month and couldn't be happier. The iPhone doesn't compare to the droid IMHO. You will need to go to the apple store. They will obtain your phone number for you.

Talk to folks with an i-Phone in your area first. We have a number of i-phone worshippers here.....no issues with A-T & T, but now the ones who got 4G's are VERY VERY unhappy with the poor reception on that phone, and Apple doesn't seem to be in any hurry to fix them. I'd stick with Verizon until the 4G's get squared away.

If you are talking about the current wireless and wifi issue a simple case fixes that issue. If you happen to get a phone that has that issue you do get a free shell case you can order within 30 days of ordering.

I agree though overall - discuss with folks in your area about their reception, etc.

iPhone is so yesterday. Get a Windows Phone 7.

We had been with ATT since 2006 and just swithced to Cellular South becuase I couldn't stomach the extra $30 a month on my bill just to have an iphone. I got an android phone, and while the app selection is nto as good yet as ihpone, it is building quickly nad i like the android interface much better than iphone. We are getting much more for less with Cellular South. Two droids on unlimited everything is $120 a month. We were paying that for a blackberry and a non smartphone for limited minutes and NO TEXTING! It would be over $200 for 2 iphones, and you cannot get unlimited data for them with ATT. You either stay within your alloted bandwidth or pay big overage charges for it!
