My Twinn is back.....

And just in time for the holiday season! How many remember the struggle of last year, when dolls didn't arrive via the slow boat from China and the company went bankrupt.

I just received a new catalogue and My Twinn has been purchased by etoys in Virginia and the web page says items will be shipped from their VA headquarters.

Is anyone going to give them a try again this year?

I think we will. Older dd got one for Christmas when she was 6. Younger dd will be 6 this year, so I think she'll be disappointed if she doesn't get one. We didn't have any problems getting ours, but it was in 2002. We were worried when we heard about all the trouble last year; I hope it's been fixed

We got our catalog also yesterday. My middle DD really wants one....what to do, what to do....I well remember the struggles many had last year, even though we weren't involved.

I got the My Twinn catalogue here as well. My girls prefer American Girl dolls, but my niece has a few My Twinn dolls. I'll probably purchase some stuff for her for Christmas from My Twinn.

My daughter has a My Twinn doll, and we had no problems at all getting it, but it was several years ago. It also, though, has been sent back to the doll hospital and returned without any problems?

I was thinking of ordering one for my little one, though really is too young for it--she's just a baby.

But, i hadn't heard there were problems. What were the problems with the company?

Last year something happened with the supplier (I think it wasn't just with My Twinn, it seems like several popular toys had shipments delayed - maybe due to labor strikes? I can't remember the reason) Anyway, LOTS of people didn't get their order in time for Christmas. Usually a gift this expensive is the "big" gift, or even the only gift, and people either had to rush out and buy something else at the last minute or explain to their daughter or granddaughter why their gift wasn't there. I think a lot of people got their money refunded and this bankrupted the company. It is now under new management. My older dd loves her My Twinn doll and we will likely be getting one for younger dd this year. We won't be waiting too much longer to order, though. In fact, if you order by Oct 19th, there is a 10% savings. Oooh, that's coming up fast! Better decide now! LOL

The company shut down in early December of last year. The owner blamed it on a slowdown in business after 9/11. Then they couldn't fill the already placed orders (it took a little while to get the doll after ordering) supposedly because of shipping issues.

The new company has nothing to do with the old other than buying the name. I don't know anything about their service but don't hold the actions of the former company against them.

On a personal note, the dolls actually creep me out and I wouldn't buy one.

We sent our My Twinn doll back to the doll hospital as soon as they reopened. I'll keep you posted on what transpires now

Wow, everytime my daughter would carry hers around, everyone would comment and flatter her. . .my daughter just ate that up!

The only thing was, when we ordered it, we couldn't pick the exact fact--you gave them a photo and you checked off descriptive features, but they picked the face. And, the face they picked was my least favorite, and one I thought looked the least like my daughter--and the photos I had sent. I think that's changed, though; I think you can pick out the exact face.

I would have sent it back, but there was no way I would have gotten it back by the holidays, so I let my daughter keep it. . . and she LOVED it. Every year I'd order a matching set or two of bigger clothing, and I even went to Kids r US and bought teeny baby things that matched clothing in my daughter's size.

But, she's really too big, now. I think we'lll do the Twinn doll for my youngest next year, when she's a little bigger.

See I'm the opposite, I think the My Twinn dolls are sooo much cuter than American Girls! The My Twinns can sometimes wear preemie clothing. I had quite a few a few years ago.

I think the My Twinn dolls are adorable. My daughter has one and she also has the My Twinn baby "Lauren" . I like the way they are bendable and you can pose them.

We just bought a My Twinn for my niece for her only holiday gift from us. We ordered online on 10/18, but had them select the face shape from a picture (I couldn't decide). The doll shipped on 11/4. Then the fun began.

The free (or standard) shipping is DHL/USPS Alliance. DHL picks up the doll and takes it to the facility closest to your local post office. Then DHL brings it to the post office and they deliver to your home.

The doll reached Fort Pierce, FL on 11/8, a Monday. Naturally I assumed that it would be delivered here in Vero Beach on Tuesday or Wednesday. No doll. I called DHL and they said that they still had the package, they couldn't tell me when it would get to the post office, and they couldn't release the package directly to me.

I won't go into the gory details, but suffice it to say that I got the doll from DHL and have sent letters to them, USPS, and My Twinn complaining about the service.

My advice -- PAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO FOR EXPEDITED DELIVERY!

Oh, by the way, the doll is GORGEOUS!

We got this catalog in the mail today and DH immediately wanted to buy one for Savannah, but I remembered all the problems last year with this doll and told him to forget it!

They are cute, but for $130 dollars, for a doll that my child will play with a couple of times, no way! LOL
